Interesting concept, but in any of the X3s that sounds more like a recipe for disaster :), especially when things get hectic.

Though if there's ever going to be an X where you could have at least a 2 player LAN/online co-op or vs mode, that would be ***REALLY, REALLY INTERESTING***.

Fight, or not (if not, you will probably want to buy some war ships and order them to defend things)
Build, or not (some things are very hard to get unless you build at least a little though)
Plots, or not (the choice is, as always, yours [kudos for those who know recognise the reference])

Thanks, though I had already read several of the entries. It sure does sound pretty awesome but the crux of the matter is that I simply can’t justify spending so much time on a single game right now. A quick glance at the manual and the sheer amount of keyboard shortcuts the game requires me to learn and use hasn’t exactly boosted my encouragement to try it out.

Not a problem, I understand were you're coming from and there's really no need to berate yourself about it ;). I've been taking a rather long break from X3 myself, mostly to finally play and finish The Witcher EE (which I did) and now The Witcher 2 EE.
