WinterSnowfall: Yeah, I know what you mean and can't argue with that. Well, you still have some time to think about it... perhaps reconsider :).
He, thanks. :)
I would greatly appreciate it, though, if you (or someone else) would be so kind as to briefly comment on the amount of in-game bugs that necessitate constant research, awareness and readjustment of play style.

I'm not sure if I'm the right person to ask, since this is one of my favorite series, so I may be more than a bit biased :). I'll try to be objective though.

First off, if you're worried about bugs and hidden issues, as a newcomer, you should stick to the most recent revision of the X3 series: X3:AP. They've fixed and redesigned a lot of the pending issues and problematic systems from the previous X3 games in X3:AP. Even if you want to play the X3:TC campaign, which is more extensive than what X3:AP has to offer, there's an X3:AP mod that allows you to do just that.

In term of bugs, there still are quite a few present even in X3:AP, but if you ask me they're mostly minor annoyances. The most annoying ones to me, as a dedicated fan of the series, are some graphical glitches that have never been fixed, but they don't really affect the gameplay.

In a game as complex as X3 there are bound to be some occasional glitches in the ship's navigation system (autopilot) that may send you crashing into other ships or glancing an asteroid and being blown to bits (you or other ships you own), but they're not that common. As with any game, saving often, especially when confronted with impending danger (such as a pirate raid, or navigating through an asteroid-rich system) is an unwritten golden rule.

In short, expect some frustration in the beginning, when you're still getting the hang of the game, but once you overcome that, especially if you're into space sims with 4X flavors, you're going to enjoy the game immensely.

The upside is that you'll have plenty of people in the forums willing to help you out and discuss any issues you run across or doubts you may have, myself included.

Cool, especially with regards to Albion Prelude (as I prefer playing the vanilla versions of games).

I understand but as long as they're not oft-occuring eyesores and don't affect the gameplay I probably won't mind that much.

Yeah, I did read about that but since I do make sure to save often it should be a non-issue.

That sounds awesome, thanks a lot for the comments. I have no further questions, Your Honour!

For now, that is. ;P
Too many menus? I think I must try voice control for some of those orders that otherwise demand navigating through several menus. Did I not read about someone using that?

Too talkative ship computer? I agree, so first thing I do in a new game is lowering the info stream from her (Betty, the ship's computer).

I had better go back to work now. Oh how I wish I were cruising instead.
Not in since I already have x2 and 3 on steam. Just wanted to say its a great game and I hope whoever wins it enjoys it!
Did I mention X3 has some of the most memorable music I can recall hearing in a game? It really goes well with the setting, see (or better said hear) for yourselves:

Sometimes I head out to a sector just to listen to its own music track - yeah, I mean you Argon Prime and Kingdom End!

Still looking for brave pilots to fight the Xenon incursions. Sign up with the Argon Military!
Looks like market has been saturated. Need to create a demand or open up new markets, perhaps in Yaki space you can make more profit.
Come on pilots, don't be shy! It all sounds a lot worse than it really is (in terms of responsibilities)... I'm even willing to give you an X universe indulgence should you decide the game is not up your alley.
We just got the new 3.2/3.3 patch today - wanted to remind everyone that this giveaway is still on!

He's at most still undecided :). So no one's signed up yet.

Makes me think I'm giving away the wrong X3...
I'm not in but thanks for your generosity +1 !
Nothing to play, you say?! Easily fixed here (assuming this is still ongoing).
