Is there any reason why you installed galaxy? It is not needed to play Daggerfall Unity.
It automatically downloaded galaxy. How else do you install daggerfall unity? Im glad to hear that this launcher isnt actually required, because that would turn me off from using gog ever again tbh

You need to download the offline installers which GOG unhelpfully labels as "backup". See the attached image.

By the way, what is Galaxy actually doing to your computer? I'm just curious, not trying to persuade you to use it or anything.

Galaxy tends to make my hd sound like a garbage disposal when it's updating a larger game but offline installers for patches don't. He might be having the same problem.

No idea what you mean by that, but it likely has to do with GOG Galaxy constantly crashing in the background for the past few versions. Version 2.0.55.99 should be fine, though as pointed out above, you don't really need it. In this case, you'll only miss out on game time tracking and cloud saves.
Galaxy hasn't crashed on me at all and I'm still using Windows 7.

What exactly is your problem with it? I actually prefer it to the Steam client at this point.

Nah, Galaxy installation is "encouraged", but not forced.
If you just closea a offline installer after the installation and then start the game manually, you never will get in touch with Galaxy.

And besides that it works just fine on my PC. What's the problem? Is it looking for installed games or something?

The last person who claimed that turned out to be wrong. Check Reliability Monitor. It's the client service executable that's crashing; you won't see the UI suddenly disappear.
nvm

As others have said: avoid Galaxy altogether. That's what the offline installers are there for. Galaxy is just crap that GOG wants to force on you. But luckily so far they are still afraid to discontinue the mostly DRM-free offline installers.

No it never, you clicked the link to download it, it was not automatic...
Galaxy works fine for me - love it cause it's easy to use.
Double-clicking a desktop link is even easier...
