One time I gathered all the spider I could find in my room and put them all in the jar. One week later they basically ate one another and then I set the last remaining one alive free.

ah, good to know. i think it's b/c i didn't get introduced to them until I was an adult that i'm afraid of them. also, the first time i met one was when i was about to take a shower and it came scurrying up the drain. :(

Shhh. God, don't just betray my location before everyone to see! Well, my joke aside, tbh, i live in a rural area with stagnant waters and running waters nearby even though it is outside of a big city very near to it too, so all manner of wildlife roams around. In my grandpa's era, there was even a fox around.

I used to obliterate them on sight. But then I moved to a more typical American house -- mostly wooden construction --, and promptly learned the importance of utilizing all the biological resources at my disposal to keep the actually nasty, poisonous, or otherwise harmful pests at bay.

Now I trap and strategically relocate the spiders I find to choke points near doors, windows, and wall cracks. I also try to keep a few house centipedes on patrol in the bathroom and kitchen. They stay out of my sight, do their job, and all is well.

So, you live near enough a big city to enjoy it's advantages but far enough from it to not be burdened by it's disadvantages. Nice! Send my regards to mr Dracula, should he visit you again to hang a while from the curtains. :P

Exactly. I don't use the nick "King" for nothing! I enjoy the most out of both "worlds" while avoiding both of their negative sides! But those bats aren't "vampire-bats", like the Mexican species; they are insect and small fruit eaters. Also when i was handling one it initially got annoyed and bite me, but his teeth weren't of such a structure to open wound.

I saved 2 spiders as far as i can count, to this day is till hope they said "thank you" in their own crawling hissing way

I caught them at my place and set them on fire.

Spiders hiss? XD

I know some species of cockroaches hiss, and of course snakes, but I didn't know about spiders.

Not gonna lie, they're some freaky bugs, especially the way they move, so I can't blame ya a bit! Haha.

Some tarantulas can. Although the sound is made through stridulation (rubbing limbs against parts of themselves to make a "hissing" noise like crickets do) rather than anything from the lungs.
