I would just hide and forget them, unless it's something I wouldn't want to be associated with under any circumstances, but in that case I wouldn't have bought it in the first place, or it's something that has the potential to damage your computer / software setup.

Going to all the trouble just to remove something that you didn't like from something virtual where it doesn't even take away space always seems way overboard to me. Besides, you might still change your mind one day, or you can keep it as a reminder of how bad it was. I kind of like sampling bad games, too.

I mean, sure, hoarding can be an issue, but feeling the need to permanently remove games from your virtual account doesn't sound any less OCD to me. ;)

Valve has taken to doing it whether users want them to or not in certain cases, mostly those involving scummy developers and publishers abusing their systems and flooding keys into the digital landscape to soak up trading card money/etc.

This is what I was about to write! Agree wholeheartedly.

I have a number of games -- games that I purchased but later found not to be my particular cup o' tea -- that I would love to give to friends. A few times here on GOG I've seen people ask for these very titles and wished that I could just revoke my ownership and give the titles to them.

TBH this is one of the reasons I have not completely left console gaming. Being able to buy, sell, or trade physical games is still an aspect I value.

I know that you can hide games, but it feels better mentally to delete them. I can't explain why though.

I agree too, it would be great. Unfortunately for this to work they would have to somehow make sure that people didn't just play game through and give it away to total strangers. I guess the best way would be to track the time played, which would require people to play through Galaxy, which would require making Galaxy mandatory... Yeah, not gonna happen.

It does seem that there are a few entities out there trying to create a system for used game sales (but most are closed systems).

Definitely an interesting read. I guess reselling games could be a thing, but it would require a lot of goodwill from the publishers' side.

Buying digital products is definitely more convenient than buying boxed copies (although I'm sure many people would disagree), but the example of how troublesome reselling digital products is, shows the darker side of this way of purchasing games.

So, the used car prices in Kelley Blue Book are kept artificially high in order to push new car sales.

If game publishers are allowed control of the used market -- not allowing the market alone to organically dictate prices -- then we can probably expect used game sales to be more of a hassle than a benefit.

Now, giving a game to someone else -- transferring ownership -- is much more interesting to me. If I could do something like pay a nominal fee to give a game to someone who wanted it (and they could register it and then keep it) I would be all for that system. But yes, many hurdles to that.

I have a collectible tag where I put any games that are not to my liking. Although I have no intention of playing them, I still have it as a title in my collection. Like a crappy baseball card or the like.

I've had Kerbal Space Program and :Darkest Dungeon hidden for quite a while, but I can't just ignore them. I still get update notifications for hidden games (when gog bothers with update notifications at all(). Its annoying. I wish I could just remove them completely. Especially those two, which seem to still be updated quite often.

I'd have to be absolutely sure the game has no potential further than presented or that I'm so done with even attempting to play it as to be certain I'd never want to try again.

So a game would have to be akin to the parrot in that one Python sketch; defective and bereft of life.

To wit, Block'hood, Windforge, LuftTrausers, the Eschalon series, Sid Meier's Railroads, those are games I am absolutely certain I've no desire to return to, unless there's some absolutely stellar mod that fixes the major problems I have with each of them.

Given the issues these games have and the fact that their communities range from "absolutely dead" to "never existed", while I could list potential fixes for each of them, there would be no point in doing so.

As for the point on giving the games way; I feel that many of the games I listed have absolutely no potential for such a thing.

Not all games would account for gifting but.. you never know who's willing to play the titles you have nothing with anymore.

I'm sure both of my X games ( 3&4 ) would find a home soon,
then again, with me, yesterday, sharing some of the extra keys i have accumulated through the years i felt surprised about which games where taken first

Somewhere i'd expect steam to take up something enabling sharing between accounts...

With the other discussion about games being account bound and the possibility of giving it to one of your familymembers by death is another one but almost as interesting to follow to see where account bound games and how the industry perceives optional transfers in about 20 years or so
