Jokes aside, sad to see that most of the former "western" USSR republics are marooned in alcohol :(
But HEY, at least your friendly neighbor Latvia has a car that runs on logs, eh? :D
We have those too (a Swedish video unfortunately, but we have the same models lying around and tinkered about by enthusiasts)
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hSgL0Ie4zrI

And also some projects of fitting motors hat run on wood power on moskvitches etc

Oh and i forgot a saying that goes like this (literal translation, heads up for shitty wording): Estonians do Russian stupidities with German efficiency.

Trump is a little nuts but he is entertaining in his own way. He still is a terrible person and sets a horrible example for U.S. Its ok to say you think we should be more vigilant with who gets in, but he goes straight for remove them all. A lot of the people that live here haven't done anything wrong and whats more they are GHOSTWISE.

Bigotry corrupts, Absolute bigotry corrupts absolutely.

51nikopol: I apologize for being the first Canadian to post here. We are know for being very polite, sorry!

We are also very passionate about hockey and beer, which is not a bad thing.

Thank you for reading this.

The following sums it up pretty well!

Oh, and apologies for the swearing.

AlKim: Another thing I dislike about Finns is that they are a really jealous bunch.
Maybe in some ways... but to me e.g. thai people seem even more so. This is made even worse there that unlike Finns, they really like to show (or more often, pretend) how successful they are in life.

Maybe it is a different kind of jealousy. In Finland it stems from "people should be and stay on the same level" (which also includes that boasting about one's success is bad, unlike in e.g. US or many other countries), while in Thailand it is... pretty much just pure jealousy, as in "damn he/she is lucky, why not me instead?". Talking and belittling them at their back etc.

immi101: there are 80million Germans. And everybody feels a little different about it ;)
Yeah, but I meant more in the sense like how you rate your country's politics and politicians to those in other countries? Like how corrupted, opportunistic, dumb, weasel etc. they are? I've always thought Germany is one of those countries with less shithead politicians, but how would I know anyway.

R8V9F5A2: Same here really.
Most, if not all, politicians in Sweden come from the upper-class.
To my knowledge its pretty much the same in most countries.
Well, to me it seems there are quite a lot formally uneducated people in the Finnish parliament, at least from some of the leftist parties, and the anti-immigration and anti-EU "True Finns" party.

There are some issues related to that though:

1. If you want to become a minister in the government, then for some of the positions certain formal education is usually expected. For instance, if you are to become a Minister of Justice, it is considered odd if you don't have a degree in law. I think earlier there was even a requirement for that, but at some point it was dropped so that non-lawyers could be positioned there too. Many consider this as a bad thing, and I kinda understand why.

Then again, our earlier finance minister of economic affairs was earlier a school teacher, probably no background in economics.

2. Even in Finland, campaigning for the parliament can be expensive. Where are you going to raise that kind of money if you are some unemployed no-name who just feels he/she has the right stuff and ideas to parliament? Rich people have easier to campaign and get (buy) coverage in media.

Of course being famous in one's party helps, or if you are very opinionated about things that people care about (e.g. Jussi Halla-aho who is mainly known for his anti-islam writings, or many people in the Green or leftist parties).

LOL, I actually Googled it before I posted that, just to make sure my comment was factual. XD The only dictionary/encyclopedia sites that I saw that mentioned the spelling you used (even as an alternative form) are UrbanDictionary (hardly the paragon of reliability, especially where spelling and grammar are concerned...) and Wikipedia's "List of ethnic slurs"...a page which, I imagine, attracts the sort of people you don't really want editing Wikipedia. =P At any rate, I'd never seen that spelling before (in all my hundreds upon hundreds of hours of reading racial, ethnic and religious slurs ^_^), but apparently you're not the only one who spells it that way.

This just proves that spelling and grammar are for chumps, and we should just do away with the written word, once and for all. Reading and writing cause more trouble than they're worth.

Gilozard: ...In the US, no one can stop anyone from running for office. We always start out with a field of crazies and it gets winnowed down. Trump has run for several positions but it never goes anywhere.

The only change this time is that the media is giving him, and all the nutjobs, more air time than usual.
Not only the media. For example while Donald Trump has the right to run for office he is not entitled to make it under the banner of the GOP. He could run as an independent after being excluded from the GOP for having incompatible views. Or the law prosecutors could accuse him of hate speech and discrimination (for example when asking for marking people of a certain faith) and sentence him. Or people instead of enjoying the show could publicly express their distaste for him and put more pressure on the media and their local GOP representatives to end it at least now. WIthout it it seems like he has at least some support in the GOP and among the voters and given his dangerous ideas I think this impression really should be avoided.

I wouldn't mind if he would be a lonely runner - but he runs for the grand old party which holds the Senate and the House and may as well get the next presidency and had it in the past more often than not. This makes a really bad impression. I guess politics and entertainment do not go that well together than one usually thinks.

Spinelessness. Seriously, what the fuck happened there? Over the past 2 decades we've just had the spine ripped right out of us and all but a few seem able to be able to formulate so much as an opinion about that. That might be because opinions are illegal in this country though... People get arrested and charged for posting opinions on social media, even when they don't advocate violence or direct those opinions at specific people.

Smartphone zombies. Selfie fucktards taking pictures of themselves at scenes of accidents, stabbings and other such wonders they want to share with their friends and families on social media. These are people who're completely disconnected from the reality around them and can only communicate with people who are categorically not in their immediate vicinity. Their numbers are increasing sharply and already represent a noteworthy percentage of the population. Tragically they rarely get killed in the violent incidents they pose by.

The politically correct. Another group that somewhat comprises the traits of the two listed above. Disconnected from reality, no individual thought and generally unwilling to even acknowledge a problem if doing so could offend someone's delicate sensibilities. The politically correct are widespread and probably the biggest source of irony in the UK. If irony could be harnessed as a power source then we'd be on to something.

The politically correct recognise that the branding of individuals by their race, religion and gender and promoting people of particular racial, religious and gender groups over others is entirely wrong. They counter this by branding individuals according to their race, religion and gender and encourage the promotion of people of particular racial, religions and gender groups over others.

This is merely one example of the politically correct person's mindset. That rabbit hole is a deep one.

Celebrity. I think that on the whole the cult of celebrity has past its peak. But still there are plenty who seek to fill the void in their lives with the vacuity of other peoples'.

Welcome to the world...? I guess? I mean, virtually every other empire and their dog would have done the same as the Brits, French, Spaniards, and Portuguese. This is kind of an unnecessary self pity.

As a Romanian who studies in US, I have a few Native American friends, and at this point none of them care about the past. History happens. Shit changes. Humans adapt. The way of life.

I don't get it. Even countries in great economic shape love to trash talk their leaders. How does this make any sense from a human perspective?
