john_hatcher: Funny how you dig out an old private conversation only to not answer my legitimate question.

To use an analogy. Would it be ok if someone says „tinye sells drugs“ without any proof? You claim something without any proof not me.
Except he didn't point to anyone in particular..
Opinions are like assholes. Everyone has one.

How is GOG not being a distant second to Steam not common sense? Of course it is. That's why GOG keeps adding features like Galaxy and the profiles, to try and close the gap, because that's what a majority of consumers want (whether GOG superfans like it or not). Their DRM-free stance will always hold them back though, because what would sell another client to the masses would be exclusive games or online features, both of which are likely impossible unless CDP have the balls to make Cyberpunk GOG exclusive, which they don't.

tinyE: There are also a lot of people in the Steam forums who insist that GOG only sells pirated games.

Without some actual proof I don't really think it matters what someone in their forum, or this forum, is rambling about.
I had to stop reading half way through because my bull shit meter was so far off scale that the pointer indicating the highest number possible went slightly beyond that number and broke off. Once its fixed I won't be back to read the rest.

lol, thank you. :D

BeatriceElysia: This is probably why GOG Galaxy is sucking so hard for so long. Despite all the fanfare they've done literally nothing with the platform other than make a very bad glorified Steam clone from a 2010.

Andrey82: There is much bigger problems with Steam UI: http://shamusyoung.com/twentysidedtale/?p=39344

He doesn't have a point at all, only his assumptions. And, like I suspect, he can be a Steam fanboy who hates to see that customers leave this store. This year Activision will publish new Call of Duty in Battlenet, not Steam. So, basically, Steam now becoming is somewhat a junkyard with low-quality indie games. And a lot of DRM.
He's more right than he is wrong. He says straight up that Steam is so bad that there's no excuse for CDPR's failure to build a better client, and he's spot on. CDPR fumbled on the goal line, because it's management is somewhere between mediocre and piss poor.

I'll still buy some games here because I hate browsing Steam, but it's a shame that CDPR has done so little with the resources it's had at it's disposal.

DCT: *reads the entire steam post*
There it is the stupidist thing I'll see all day.
Tis exactly. I believe some would liken the post to what they would call "concerned trolling". Seriously, there have always been Anti-GOG folks around, most notably on Steam. Now there is nothing wrong with preferring your platform of choice 100%. But when someone has a lot of prejudice and bias towards an opposing object, their opinion can hardly be considered objective, and is thus not worth bothering with especially when it goes off-tangent like that.

Also, there is no such thing as a one fits all category for everyone. Each gamer has to decide for themselves what's important for them in a gaming platform and pick what they would love to have.

If someone asks me, what I like, is the ability to simply download the game, no fuss, no muss, no DRM and simply pop it in and play. And then, for the game to be updated to the latest version within a set window at least. GOG has more or least delivered these, and a failure of these will be where their chief flaws lie for me. Like any missing updates for games, and a wobbly structure in their game management, where the community had to haul them over for the putting Galaxy into the installer bit. Now it's alright, but you'd need to manually select the classic installers.

For others, it could be a lot different.

Now talking about the stats a bit, in the "6 members went to the GOG HQ" thread, GOG showed out statistics where they (GOG) are growing reliably, not in danger of shutting down anytime soon, but, they will still need to get larger for the DRM-loving Triple AAA companies to agree to release their games here Day 1 Drm-free, instead of some future Month/Year X time somewhere down the line. I think I would trust the company's own proof in comparison to someone pulling stats out of their ass.

Speculating about the future, I believe the release of Cyberpunk 2077 will be the big blast, where we will really see where GOG is going, one way or the other. Till then, we will enjoy what we have.

Hello, I don't think I deserve to be low rated for bringing this up. I was just worried where my money went and he made some valid point, so I was just wondering does he got right all along.

I can't see these pointless points (using a script for that) so I really couldn't care a nickel about that, however, when you write something like this...

"I think this guy has disturbingly good point - for gog users. I'm personally here for it's store, and not for Witcher series, but is there any chance this man is wrong?"

... you don't think this shows others here that you lack any critical thinking against these kinds of bs/bias?!?

That said, I think GOG would absolutely be more positively perceived IF they dared to make their client open source'd...
