I'm playing it right now, and I disagree with everything with you just said and your assessment on the matter.

The AI is challenging me in satisfying ways (with the exception of the allies) flanking, being quiet and luring me into a trap, keeping me on my toes at all times.
The environments are giving me the same atmosphere found on the other games of the franchise.
Bugs? Yes, found some of then, as I did with any game ever released. I'm dealing with then just fine and they aren't letting the experience down so far.

It is janky as are the others on the franchise. The addition of some experimental or new graphics features also hamper the optimization side, but many of them also helps built the atmosphere quite nicely (best storms in any game ever released), and nothing that mods or tweaks can't resolve (or at least try, since you know different PCs and all that).

Story? I don't know, all right at this point, I'm curious to where some things are is going. But then again the series isn't know for their quality writing either.

Rough, buggy and not as good as SoC or CoP? Sure, it is pretty much well known at this point.

PoS? No redeeming qualities? Not fun? This is all on you chum, sorry.

As you've said experiences may vary, but your assessment isn't fact. It's completely subjective and so in calling it every name you want doesn't help to bring any point either.

I would even recommend you to try the game again with less grumpiness and more of a open mind. :p

And yes, I have seen it in reviews. XD Regardless of how you feel about the term, being in the review means the review had nothing to do with the game. :P
"Fun"

C'mon guys. That word has no place in talking about games.

Yeah, "fun" might be of those words which mean little to nothing, but is it really overused here? And it's not like it is the same as with the hybrid words such as "democracy," which change their meaning based on who's speaking.

EDIT: while there is a lot of irony in your statement, to some degree you are right. How many people grind xp, not enjoying the game at all, but to get some abstract level? Or play for completing achievements, doing nonsensical stuff such as "find all the pictures of people wearing glasses on the map to complete the 'spectacles master challenge'", not enjoying it in a teeny-tiny bit? Or better still, say stuff like "It is embarassing, but I must admit I haven't played that game yet", as if it were some sort of duty? Yea, fun is an obsolete notion in relation to games :P

i absolutely loath grinding
the fastest way for a game to los me is to have grinding
so i generally avoid games with grinding
diablo
dungoen crawlers
most jrpg's and so on

In my experience, with respect to JRPGs, grinding is really only needed for earlier games; more modern JRPGs can be easily beaten without having to grind (though it's sometimes fun to do so, particularly when doing so gets you new abilities without taking too much time). Here are some JRPGs that can be beaten without having to stop and grind:
Final Fantasy 4+ (avoid FF10's postgame (it's grindy and poorly balanced), and avoid the 2 online games (11 and 14))
Dragon Quest 4, 5, 8, 9 (except 9's post-game)
Phantasy Star 4 (possibly ps3 as well, but there's too much backtracking in that game)
Most JRPGs from the PSX era onwards.

Also, modern Japanese Wizardry-like dungeon crawlers (such as Elminage Gothic) tend to give you enough experience just by exporation (assuming you don't keep changing your party), so you don't run out of new areas to explore while still under-leveled.
"piece of art", "masterpiece"

and over-exaggerated praise in general

"if you don't like this game your a racist / bigot / idiot"
"if you like this game your a racist / bigot / idiot"

If that's one of the arguments a reviewer makes, he can shove his head right back up his/her ass and (hopefully) suffocate

Woah now, let's not do something crazy like suggest someone play Phantasy Star 3.

Actually, I am currently playing through that game right now.

Well that is just hurting yourself for attention now.

Now THIS would be an interesting phrase to see in game reviews.

Pretty sure there a quite a few games that are bad enough that people might have actually tried this form of suicide after playing (or just buying) them.

Also could describe some particularly scummy devs who literally scammed their paying customers (especially those via kickstarter).
Unique.
