...Something to replace Space Empires IV.

I already have GalCiv 1 and 2, I already have the GOOD old MOO games, so I'm guessing there aren't that many choices. (And I already have SMAC, but that's based on land, not space.)

Here's a few ground rules:
A: It has to be on either GOG or Humble, without DRM. I don't have Steam.
B: I'd prefer turn based, but it'd appear that sometime after 2005, turn based 4X games just fall off the map.
C: I'd prefer space/sci-fi.

So, any suggestions? This thread can also be used by others to look for games they want.

Maybe Smugglers V? Unfortunately it isn't discounted at the moment.

I've heard mixed things about that.

So why are the trees full of leaves and the birds chirping? Why is there no snow on the ground? Why are we getting rain and not snow?

Why is the air conditioner going on? Why are there days when the temperature breaks 300 Kelvins?

That's what they say in Kings Landing...

How about Imperium Galactica 2? Or even the first one perhaps. It isn't turn based, but it doesn't have the problem that RTS games have in that you have to act quickly. There are different game speeds, and the normal realtime speed is almost too slow for anything to really happen. So you use that to build/research/give orders pretty much at leisure. If you send fleets to another planet, then you use bump the speed so that you don't have to wait hours.

I second imperium galactica 2.

Also, civ4 had all sorts of mods. I bet theres a really good space one, though I haven't played it.

I enjoyed birth of the federation if you can get your hands on it. Not a great game, but it had its moments.

Star controls are amazing games, too.

Another crazy optikn: the X trilogy. They are big games where you sit in a cockpit, but it's all very strategic with trade and whatnot. I found that it scratched a funny strategic itch for me and it may do the same for you.

for a game I missed that was on sale the week before the summer sale started grrr lol

be cool, have fun :)
While these aren't turn-based, they are 4X and set in space:

Sword of the Stars Complete Collection (it's 75% off)

Sins of the Solar Empire (it's still a bit pricey, though)

Oh my god, is that still a thing? Man, I haven't made my annual post to make fun of them in... years.

Hmmm, it appears I no longer have an account. Ah well.

Did that ever actually get any good?
