Down with the books. Down with common sense.

CDPR: "How about we do something in The Witcher universe?"

1. The trial of herbs is conducted on boys.

2. At a young age.

3. Only 3 out of 10 survive.

4. The recipe has long been lost.

5. Ciri is too powerful by nature - she has elder blood flowing in her, which gives her incredible power. And yet she stoops to the level of a witcher? Seriously? You couldn't come up with anything dumber?

6. Mages can be physically superior to witchers. Vilgefortz spanked a witcher in the fourth book.

7. Ciri is immune to poisons, and once they tried to turn her into a dryad. She drank a deadly brew like it was plain water. Accordingly, witcher poisons would not affect her.

CDPR has thoroughly shit on the heads of the players and fans of The Witcher...

I don't have a single positive thing to say about the trailer, about Ciri as PC, about the retcon or about these-days red both in which strictly concerns its output and not.

I thought about getting into it but as it turns out i really, really don't want to.

Instead i'm going to forget all about this game until it comes out in 30/31/32 (or until it's up to spec in 32/33/34) and hopefully by then the air in and around the industry has cleared to a point where some types of considerations that by virtue of established patterns have, unfortunately, been made mandatory will have been rendered needless and useless, same as they once were. Maybe then i would be able to take another look at it all through a different lens. Maybe.

Anyway, lots of hours between now and then and the damn games on my shelf aren't going to play themselves. Well, maybe TW3 if i set it below Death March i guess, but, yeah.

Happy Holidays, all.

.Keys: Would like to add that the game will have huge sales anyway.
Perhaps. But I wouldn't have high hopes of seeing a good looking Triss in Witcher 1 remaster after seeing that trailer.

Not saying the game is going to be bad or anything, way too early to say, but the recent trend is pretty clear.

The amount of childish, unprofessional developers that hates their own fans/customers continue to pile up. Being vague and condescending to a fan(s) with legitimate concerns is stupid at best.

David Harbour (the sheriff from Stranger Things) said the same thing about people he disagreed with.

Inciting violence is ok by them, yet it's "gamers" / "fans" that has a problem being toxic and needs to shut up...? Got it. ;D

There won't also be any cards to collect. And the combat system will also most likely change.
Too bad, because I liked both in the original.

I hope they include Gwent in everything they make even if you don't need to collect anything, and I wasn't a fan of the timed-hit mechanic because it was more hassle than fun. But I can understand why many people liked it. I just sucked at it.

I really didn't like Gwent in Witcher 3. I loved it as a sort of meta mechanic of handling battles in Thronebreaker, but as an actual game that exists within the world of the Witcher this collectible card game featuring Geralt and his friends makes no sense whatsoever and is totally immersion breaking. Dice poker felt so much more fitting, like something people would actually play in taverns in that world.

I didn't meant Gwent cards. I mean the romance cards from Witcher 1 which won't come back in today's political climate...

The most childish and pointless thing they ever put in a game. At least collecting the Gwent cards had an ingame purpose.

If you are that desperate to seem some digital nude lady parts, I have many websites I can recommend to you, you dont even need to play a game to see them.

I've been thinking and reading more about what we know about the game and its production, more pieces have fallen into place, and I now think that it will pretty much be a disaster.

I'll reconsider if fans of Witcher 3 will applaud the game after release, but otherwise I think that I'll just keep my good memories and never bother with this, as I'm pretty sure now it'll just ruin the good ending and the characters.

It's such an uphill battle to win me over at this point. I suspect when Ciri started using witcher magic in the trailer 'ooo' and 'ahh' was the reaction they were looking for, but it opened up a massive can of worms.

There's a term I use called 'sequel depowering'. It's when the hero or heroine is so powerful that any sequel becomes impossible, so the creators start taking a hatchet to their own established rules and resets characters to brute-force a new chapter for profit. My ending on The Witcher 3 is now null and void, and we're seemingly left to continue off from the worst ending (yes, worse than Ciri dying). Why is it the worst ending? Because the whole point of being a supportive dad was to watch Ciri fly the nest, bolstering her independence only to lose her to her newfound responsibilities. To have her turn around and choose the same path as her surrogate father feels like a Disney ending that isn't in keeping with the tone of the Witcher universe at all. This just looks like a transparent attempt to make her a Witcher because its the most marketable role, rather than any legitimate reason that aligns with her character development.

Ciri is scolding a bunch of villagers in the trailer but if she had been empress what right does she have to complain? She could've made everyone's lives better, but opted to take a menial job in pest control. Then there's the troublesome fact that the witchers are VICTIMS. They were snatched from their homes as children and Frankensteined. No one should be seeking this fate out, willing to be violated in exchange for some weak superpowers.

Oriza-Triznyák: It will not run on my PC , so i don't really care . :p
I wouldn't worry about if I were you.

By the time TW4 is released, your current PC is long gone and recycled.

When I first watched the announcement, I was excited about it, not gonna lie. I started making up excuses in my head as to why the already powerful Ciri would need to "respec" her skills and abilities but I was kinda counting on them to provide some good lore on this.

After seeing the statements from some of the people in charge of the lore, I started to worry, especially because apparently "they" "support" the way the direction the netflix series took and they didnt consult Andrzej Sapkowski on the story.

Red flags started to raise, I really dont wanna see anybody in the witcher iv, doing pushups tbh. I want the gritty dark fantasy we got in tw3.

What do you all think about it?
