Never heard anyone mention this website/platform in my 10+ years using steam. Why cant Nvidia just give me a steam key like every other game redemption I've got? Why do I have to download another gaming platform just to play this game? and if I don't download the platform why is the game in 7 different files and a patch that I have to manually download?

/e The last video card I bought that came with a redemption made me come here...but I got a steam key

/e ooo ok my bad I have this account because a friend of mine is always finding promotions with free games that Is why I have an account here...register for free game ...never play free games because they all looked horrible

Wait your account is from November 2014 and you say you don't know what gog.com is?

To answer your question gog.com is a place that sells PC versions of video games 100% Digital Rights Management (DRM) free. When you purchase a video game from gog.com you own the video game.

When you purchase a video game from Steam you do not own the video game you are only renting the video game.

That code works like you redeem Steam code on Steam, but it gives you GOG copy.

Problem is, NVIDIA probably had a deal with CPDR/GOG to give out GOG key instead of Steam to promote this platform more.

My personal advice, if you like to keep your games in one basket, trade that code off on steamtrades.com for some TF2/Dota 2 keys (around 20-22 keys for GOG key, Steam copy is worth more) which you can use for further trade.

Yay promoting microtransactions on gog.com.

Get out of here with that stuff.

I am going to defend gog.com to never introduce microtransactions or a marketplace like Steam did.

Fight me. I'll fight back.

People trade all the time. And yes, I'm not going to back off. I'm giving out the best advice for TC, and don't give a damn about you.

Microtransaction bullshit. Learn what microtransaction is before spouting nonsense.

Now you have, so obviously the promo worked as intended. :) Raise awareness of GOG.com. Good job, GOG.com and CDPR!

So that you can copy the files also to USB sticks and such, which by default are formatted with FAT32. FAT32 filesystem has a 4GB file size limitation, that's why the installer files are divided into max 4GB parts.

I usually format my USB sticks with NTFS though, which doesn't have the same limitation.

EDIT: And as someone mentioned, those with slower or flakier internet connections, or monthly data caps, might also want to download the game in smaller parts, instead of over 20 gigabytes in one swoop.

The reason you got a GOG code for TW3 is because:

- The developer of the game (CDPR) is the parent company of GOG.com.

- The NVidia promo was partly to promote the GOG.com service (as well as NVidia products, of course).

Anyway, if you refuse to play PC games that are not tied to the Steam client, that is your prerogative. You don't have to play it, or you can also buy the game separately for Steam, if you want.

I personally find that silly, the GOG version works just fine, without Steam (or even GOG Galaxy). Like Mel Gibson tends to say: FREEDOOOOOM!!!

Because GoG don't do Steam keys, they are owned by CDPR (the creators of The Witcher) and that's why you got a key for here.

As for downloading, that's how downloads work in the real world. If you want auto install like Steam then download the Galaxy client and install through that, you can get rid of Galaxy as soon as it's installed if you don't want it.

And don't get me started on the ridiculous inconsistencies in your post, if you've never heard of GoG before how come you've been a member for over six months, and how could you have had to come here last time you got a free game from Nvidia? (Plus if that was the case, you definitely wouldn't have got a Steam Key as GoG has never done steam keysl

Sorry if that's a bit snappy, but this is about the 100 thread we've had complaining that a FREE game didn't come on the platform someone wanted...

Both copies work fine indeed, either GOG or Steam as I've played both. Haven't touched console copies so can't say.
How a Valve employee got here?

Ok, no one can fail that badly at reading comprehension and think they understand, so troll off troll.

Interesting finding. What the heck? It took him half a year to realize in which business GOG.com is at?

Could be also a troll, of course.

The keys for Team Fortress 2 and Dota 2 are cosmetic microtransactions. A player purchases the keys and trades them for other video games.

The keys for both Team Fortress 2 and Dota 2 are still microtransactions.

It's not nonsense.

Stop promoting this stuff on gog.com.

When reading the title, the first thing I thought of was that it would make a perfect reimagination of Haddaway's What Is Love.

What is GOG
Baby, no Steam keys
No Steam keys
No more
