Firek: In both cases, these codes were canceled on the distributor's request. You should contact the reseller and request a full refund. They might offer you a replacement code, which might work, but it's possible that the same thing would eventually happen to that code as well.

As for the exact reason of these cancellations, I don't want to reveal too much sensitive information. I hope that's acceptable.

I'm sorry about the lack of notification after your codes were canceled, but we don't have a means with which to send such automated messages - at least not currently. We will definitely have to implement such functionality for the next huge release, but it's currently not possible. :(

fatee: Darn I bought my key from Cdkeyhouse - which I have bought many keys before from.
I paid like $50 CAD... not exactly a deal, but saved me $5.

Argh.
Thanks for the reply.

skeletonbow: The only legit place to buy GOG games is on GOG.com by official company statement (don't have a handy link, google it if desired). Any other store no matter how "legit" they seem or claim to be are not selling authorized copies of GOG's games, and GOG may or may not do something about that, such as disabling game keys. They haven't done anything that I've been aware of to date but they surely could do so as many other companies have done similar on Steam when their games are resold through unauthorized means.

Buy your GOG games on GOG.com and support GOG for what they're doing as well as ensuring your game will always be there and always work. Why take chances for a couple cents/dollars, it isn't worth it.

fatee: I paid legit money for what I had thought was a legit copy- hence still supporting the company that created the game.
I'm not very wealthy, so I save where I can; however now I've screwed out of $50.
My fault, I guess - but it's not a strange thing to buy games from other websites that sell them...especially for a few bucks cheaper.
Contact Cdkeyhouse and try to get your money back. Next time be more careful.

Thing is, you're not helping the developers because those websites buy the keys from everyone that shows up, meaning it can be from stolen credit cards (that was what happened in your case, the owner of the cc must have chargeback the stolen money) or from regions were the game is dirty cheap (ex. Russia).

I hope that at least you bought it using paypal, just in case the website doesn't want to refund you...

I paid $37.59 USD which worked out to about $46 CAD directly from GOG.com which is a better deal right from the horses mouth so to speak. My key hasn't been canceled so far, but I sleep at night with a pretty good feeling it'll remain in my GOG library in perpetuity. :)

Different strokes ...
