Ok, so I got Witcher 3 some time ago when it launched, downloaded and installed GOG Galaxy, downloaded the files for witcher 3 installed and played it. Haven't played it in a while and went to play it today, that's where my problem starts.

My progress in the game was showing in GOG Galaxy, but the game was lost from my library, showing as uninstalled. A bit of searching and I found how to manually point to the game files and try and re-attach them to the GOG Galaxy library.

Did that. No joy. Say's unsupported. Nothing has changed on this PC.

Tried to log a support request with GOG but guess what, their form insists on a DX/Diag report which I did but apparently .txt is the wrong format so I couldn't lodge it. Of course it didn't say what the right format was.

So can anyone assist with this? Any ideas. Honestly if I have to download it again 30 GB worth, I'll just go and buy it on steam where I haven't had a problem like this ever in over 6 years.

On the support form, there are two places to upload related files. The upper one is for images, the lower one is for the DxDiag. Both have a Browse... button to select files. The lower one accepts txt files but the upper one doesn't. Could you be using the wrong one?

If that doesn't work, rename dxdiag.txt to dxdiag.jpg and try to submit that.

I like gog support well enough, but I hate their support pages. In many places, you can be caught in an endless 'contact us' loop because the links for particular game support pages don't work and the site redirects you back to the general support page. Yay. I'm already frustrated because my game doesn't work properly, now I get to run in circles trying (and failing) to tell gog about my problem.

By "library" do you just mean on Galaxy - or in your actual account as well?!
Can you not just run it directly? Galaxy is entirely optional so if the game is on your computer then it should run, even if Galaxy does not recognise it for some reason.

It shows as not installed in both cases.

You have a point. That does work, thx, I'll just disregard the whole GOG thing and add it to my steam library. Problem solved.

Sometimes the simple solutions are the best ones.

Not installed, or completely missing from your game library? And if it's the later, did you buy the game from some key reseller, or directly from GOG?
Some "gift codes" that are resold on websites like G2A have been acquired illegally (with stolen credit cards, for example), then resold to unsuspecting customers, and GOG had to revoke many of them lately, especially for The Witcher 3.
When that happens, GOG notifies the people who bought the game initially (i.e. the thieving scumbag), but not the end user (i.e. the poor guy who bought it on G2A/Kinguin/Whatever and thought he had been offered a bargain when in reality, he just purchased stolen goods, and then lost his game.) Personaly, I think GOG should REALLY notify both, as it would clear up many misunderstandings.

Maybe it's not what happened to you, but most threads like this one ended up being from victims of this kind of scheme

Thx Kardwill for the reply but this is not what happened in my case. My code was obtained direct from NVIDIA when I bought my GTX 980. Redeemed only by me at GOG. Wish wish wish they would'a used steam.

What browser are you using? I've successfully attached empty dxdiag.txt files before (packaging issue).

The game id is different from the one if you have bought the game on the website. -> i got my W3 copy with GTX 970 too (as far i know NVIDIA website isn't a scummy one , lol)

so : the gamacard doesn't have a tag "owned"

so i won't worry if you can see the game avaible in your library (website)
account tab -> librabry

i wonder if the different id of the game is the root of this issue ....could also be the 1.10 (now 1.11) patch which is the cause of the problem (all dlc got packaged in one + lots of fixes)

anyway the client is still in beta version : so there are still bugs.

I highly suggest to stop using galaxy for the moment, as suggested you can probably run the game outside galaxy, if nothing works : you still have the option to download the installer files either through galaxy (under the backup section) or directly from your library (website) : with a browser / the old downloader. / or a third party dowloader manager (down them all / free downloader manager)

I still suggest to create a support ticket, to notify your problem to GOG.

Thx DyNaer, maybe the patch. Frankly, given the stupid GOG website required a dxdiag and then wouldn't accept my .txt file. Not going to bother. I pretty much only have GOG because of the 'free' Witcher 3 I got from Nvidia. Won't be buying any more games here. I'll pay the extra on steam.
