I like how people say "get a better hardware" when the previous several years old game runs better and looks better at the same time on the same hardware.
I did a clean install of the latest nVidia drivers using Display Driver Uninstaller, disabled hairworks and reduced foliage distance + population density a notch or two. With the rest on Highest settings it's silky smooth on a 970 so far. I haven't played much yet, so maybe there are more demanding areas I haven't visited yet!

lebedkirillseven: Hello, everybody!
I just want to quickly say that I am running a set-up like that:

Intel Core i7 3770K
2x Geforce GTX 780 SLI
16Gb Corsair Vengeance RAM
The game is installed on a SSD

which is more that recommended specs (single Geforce GTX 770)

On 'ultra', the game runs at 20 fps on my machine, so I am playing with everything tuned down to 'low'.
And I mean, what the hell? Witcher 2 had bad optimisation, but not that bad.
I hope that developers will see this post and take note, that they should, maybe, look into it.
And please, refrain from posting messeges like "Yo PC sucks, run quad-SLI Titans X".

Graphical downgrade is not a problem, the problem is when you have arms going out of your b****t.
For Ultra with everything on is recommended at least an 980, and even then I don't think you can get hairworks on and have 60 FPS.

lebedkirillseven: OK, I thinks it is more of a marketing mistake. The fact that they recommend GTX 770 is a mistake.
Maybe they were just shy to post Titan X SLI to press, because, well, people would get scared of such demands.
But then - it is simply lying! Doesn't matter if you wre shy or tried to keep people "safe", it's lying to a consumer.
I thought "Hey, GTX 770 is in the Recommended. I will be able to run this game NP...." Yeah right, go break over.
You actually need to run Titan X SLI. But why lie about it?
The recommended system is for high, not for ultra, unless it specifies Ultra system recommended like it does for Arkham Knight.

Yeah I am really wondering how the game would run on my pc. Some kind of benchmark would be appreciated but I don't think we'll get one.

My Specs:

i7 2600 @3.40
8GB RAM
nvidia GTX 580

Somebody with comparable specs that has the game? I know it will explode my pc if I try ultra but I was hoping when i finally get it that it will run good on medium high settings...(I don't care about hair effects)

Not everything on for 980, still have to keep Hairworks off and AO would have to be SSAO instead of HBAO+. Might have to tone down foliage visibility and backgrounds characters a little bit as well for constant 60 FPS.
I think the 780 is the problem. My 7970 is fine so it must be the setup.

yep, that's why I said at least, but thanks for informing me. not that I could even play on ultra since I have a 760.

The requirment is GTX 660 so I don't think you could even play on low, but you can try if you already have the game.

Even with a Titan you couldn't run The Witcher with everything on and Uber-sampling on without dropping frames.

I have an 280X which is a 7970 Ghz with newer insides, and have seen the same. I switched off hairworks because AMD, and motion blur, and the little bit I tried last night seemed pretty good performance for a single card. Especially if you take into account that I'm still using last year's Omega drivers.

It seems that Nvidia only released drivers for Maxwell based GTX 900 series and the old Kepler based cards like 760 are not performing well with those. The game is definitely not badly optimized though as I was able to run it on my modest AMD 7970 Mobility GPU at constant 30 FPS with Hairworks off, SSAO, Background Characters Low, Shadows/Foliage Visibility/Detail Level on High while rest were on Ultra.

The game looks and plays better then the console counterparts on my laptop which is really great. So any further optimization I think needs to be done at the GPU manufacturer's end with the drivers as IMO CDPR have done a really nice job with the game. :)

stg83: snip!
I agree with stg83 on this one.

Was really curios as to what performace my 270x would get being at the bare minimum, I was impressed, high preset and it runs pretty well (didn't check the actual FPS).

But it seems that nvidia messed something up with the latest drivers as it seems that the kepler based GPUs aren't performing as well anymore (there are some speculations as this may be intentional).

So try running with an older version of the drivers or way in high hopes nvidia really fixes the performance on their kepler based GPUs.

That's unfortunate. I don't have the game though. Weird: not a single game had real issues on my system. On high I could run crysis 3 very good and that was probably the worst one. Sure that's an older game but there wasn't anything recent that I couldn't run on high settings and maintain a solid 60 fps. Very weird and extremely ridiculous that the witcher 3 just wouldn't run on low settings. That would just be bad programming...

Hehe, an nVidia Gameworks game that runs better on AMD cards? We'll never hear the end of this...

sizmik: For some reason the 780's are not running so well. They seem to be around half the performance of even a 970. Remember that this game is a console to PC port, NOT a PC to console port so its optimisations are horrible.
I hate when game companies use this as an excuse to be lazy. I wish more game companies would take the time to do this properly.

Say what you will about Castlevania: Lords of Shadow 2, but it was wonderfully optimized and ran very smoothly even with all graphics settings maxed out, and it was an amazing looking game at that.
Man this game is choking w/ my GTX 760 on Low. The only game iv had any problem with so far. So sad.
Whoa. I'm running it at high settings with 50-60fps on my 750ti on a 1366x768 monitor. I would say this game is optimized. If I had 1 780, I believe I can run it on ULTRA on a 1080p monitor.
