CARICATUREKILB: I don't think it's free in the UK
No, I just tried and got 'this offer isn't valid in your region'. :(

B0SC0: Are the bottom two tabs on the right always grey for you?
avatar
sunshinecorp: Yes.
EDIT: I'm not sure if those were the same tabs, but I think they used to promote games down right in a previous update. Not other ads though, never something other than games. But they're always grey now anyway.
well. you are from greece. xbox knows that you cannot buy anything anyway.
I believe The Witcher 2 was also confirmed to be backwards-compatible for Xbox One at some point. That's quite nice.

Where there's a will there's a way :P. I've been having problems with Games with Gold over here - Won't let me buy the games either online or on the console from time to time. ;_;
Thanks for the heads up but "This offer is not valid in your region." On the local site it costs a pretty penny (about $45-worth). I guess I'll have to make do with the PC version.
Caught this on IGN. Here are the regions where it is free:

"Microsoft also notes that in “select regions,” players can download The Witcher 2 for free until February 5. Those select regions are the US, Canada, UK, France and Germany."

Used to do that a lot to me too, I think it was a couple of years ago though. Hasn't really happened since. Not with Games with Gold, rather with any game.

I haven't bought content on XBLM in years, so not sure if it's a general issue - if I'm buying games for the xbox, I'd prefer to have it on disc.

Speaking of which, interesting piece of news I heard the other day

It is, the BC version was released today.

For those that have a xbox one but not living on the countries where the promotion is available, i do believe that you can change that in the settings and grab the freebie.

I can confirm that it also works in Sweden and it does not require Gold subscription.
They changed the giveway so that everyone, but Japan can get it for free now
**Free download of The Witcher 2: Assassins of Kings is available in all markets excluding Japan. The giveaway is from January 21 (6 a.m. PST) through February 5 (12 a.m. UTC). -- http://news.xbox.com/2016/01/21/xbox-one-backward-compatibility-january/
