Do you plan on adding achievements on this game?

It would be a good chance for us that have the games but never played them to finally start em.
Yes, the fact that they don't have achievements stops me from playing them. I'd love to have "Complete games" in my library no matter how good they are and how much replayable value they have.

o.O No offense, but that's kind of sad. Not being able to enjoy a game unless it sports trivial/pointless virtual trophies, that is.

Strange... I usually refuse to play a game when they DO have achievements, for the same reason exactly... Because when i beat them, i want to have beaten them completely (and without going through them multiple times, or having a hard time meeting certain criteria)!

Not exactly impossible, since Witcher 2 got achievements on Galaxy, many years after release too... But i wouldn't exactly bet on it, or count my eggs before they hatch or something...

Truth be said, Witcher is a special case for me. I would very much enjoy the series to get achievements and i have played each title (minus three) many times and trying different choices.

That's an interesting question. On the surface I'd normally say it is unlikely that we'd see them do something like that for an old game, especially one that doesn't likely bring in a lot of dough nowadays, but a 10 year anniversary does leave room for some unknown, plus CDPR did state they have a number of other projects coming up in their financial call or whatnot. It is possible they might have some 10 year Anniversary Edition lined up with updated graphics, Galaxy integration and other things planned to commemorate or something. I doubt it, but it might be a nice surprise they have coming.

It's sad to hear you can't enjoy a game without virtual rewards as The Witcher and lots of other games are very great works of art, but who knows maybe CDPR will surprise everyone with something and make your wish come true. :) You're right that it's not completely impossible, but not because Witcher 2 got achievements because it doesn't have achievements. :)

They planned to add achievements and announced it would have them, then back-pedalled on actually doing it. I just double checked in Galaxy to make sure I didn't miss anything and my Witcher 2 has no achievements at least. Hopefully they do add them to that game later on for fans too though.

There was a plan to make a a remake of the first game for consoles but it was abandoned in the end. I doubt they will revive the project.

Most likely we will get a sale of the Witcher games and maybe they will give the first one as a gift.

And they removed them soon after because they wouldn't work properly.

Then I suggest you direct your attention to some other game, because playing something like the Witcher for achievements is missing the point entirely.

I don't want to sound too judgemental, after all games are supposed to be fun so everyone can enjoy them for whatever reasons and in whatever way they want, even if it's something I see as entirely pointless, but playing RPGs like The Witcher for achievements jsut feels wrong. It's about the story, the world and the characters. Bringing achievements into the mix cheapens it and hurts immersion. Surely if achievements are your thing there are genres more suited for it, like platformers and other action and arcade games?

Achievement 1: Buy The Witcher.
Achievement 2: Install The Witcher.
Achievement 3: Start playing The Witcher.
Achievement 4: Finish The Witcher.
Achievement 5: Replay The Witcher a second time.

Any other achievements? I have already achieved the first three achievements.

Ps. As I have said before, I actually dislike achievements in online multiplayer games because they make other team members to do stupid things, just in order to get some silly achievement. Like in Team Fortress 2: heal a friendly engineer as he is fixing his sentry gun which is under fire? Yep, an achievement for a totally useless activity like that.

Or a friendly disguised spy constantly shouting for enemy medics to heal them? Yep, because there is some stupid achievement for that too, getting an enemy medic to heal you.

Or a sniper dominating another sniper? Yep, an achievement for snipers just sniping other snipers and not caring for the rest of the game.

How about you guys concentrated on team objectives instead, doing things that really help your team?

Yes, achievs please. I can understand not being into them, but to me they can add replayability. For those who don't want them, there should (and maybe already is) a way to turn them off completely.

So-called 'achievements' add no replay-ability in *any* game, they're there to artificially extend the perceived game length: obsessives beware!
