Hickory: So am I. So do I. I'd be shit as The Witcher.

Elmofongo: Again, he said he wanted to play as the Witcher.

But then again, the Warcraft movie failed, and that movie had human actors even worse then Cavill.
I was just being facecious. :)

Niggles: Hope they dont feminize the series and throw in random people from various background to ensure equality....

tort1234: That is going to happen whether anyone likes it or not.

Just look at the picture of their lead writers and their belief in open border policies.

Wow. Just wow. That seems like a group that completely gets it.

Considering that one of the main points of the Witcher Universe is that "good" and "bad" do not exist and that most decisions are morally gray - I can't wait to see this series.

It is going to be amazing to watch Geralt make friends with the striga, ride off on a Unicorn (but not a white unicorn 'cause that's racist, but an LBGTQFZWY rainbow Unicorn) and then is welcomed with open arms by Count Falwick and Sir Tailles in Ellander because all the people are accepting of Witchers.

Dr_Adder: Ah yeah, Mads Mikkelsen to the rescue. He was great in Valhalla Rising.
He's good, that would have been interesting. I liked Henry Cavill in The Tudors series as Charles Brandon, duke and friend of Henry the 8th.

I know some people like Cavill but I'm soooooo disappointed by this choice. I've been so excited about this series since it was announced and now I'm not going to bother to watch it. There were so many great options for this role. Cavill just doesn't look the part ... more like a football quarterback ! LOL. What a pity.

I don't feel that strongly about it, but j do generally agree.

SCPM: It's official, Henry Cavill will be playing Geralt:

That mr. Cavill should do something with his chin and nose. Doesn't look Geralt-like.
I think they should hire Nikita Dzhigurda. At least he looks like Geralt from the game series.

They also should hire Leonid Yakubovich, because he looks like Vesemir.

Way too old. Sure, he looks like Geralt... after taking a few too many potions.
Christian Bale.

Regardless of the actor (I don't have any strong feeling either way), I just hope that it'll eventually come to DVD and/or Blu-Ray. I'm not much into streaming.
I think that Cavill can pull this one. Superman aside, he's a decent actor. The question is who is doing the screenplay.

Hickory: Christian Bale.
Ugh, the beard in that second headshot... I love Witcher 3, but I also hate how it made everyone see Geralt as a buff grandpa. I guess CDPR wanted him to look older so he'd be a more believable father figure to Ciri - but considering witchers age slower, the sudden change makes no sense. And in the books Geralt specifically says he hates having a beard.</rant>

(To be fair, for a while I thought Anson Mount would be a good fit, and that was totally based on the W3 look...)

It's going to be difficult to please all Witcher fans in any case.

You'll have the novel fans displeased with broken "canon". You'll have fans of the games displeased that actors have been chosen who don't look like or sound like the games (or stray from the game storyline). You'll have viewers who don't like the actor(s) personally.

And even if you happen to win them all over, a miniseries is simply too short to satisfy the hunger you create, not to mention the difficulty of providing enough backstory/depth to satisfy both existing fans and the new initiates to the Witcher universe.

Suppose for a moment if the creators of Game of Thrones was released as an 8-episode miniseries format...
Personally...i just want a good Witcher TV series.
Nevermind
