SCAgent: Been a windows user for 20 years, I use my PC mostly for gaming never felt like I had much choice, so I will probably have to update when the time comes, Cant wait for something to break during the upgrade process and having to reformat everything again....

I have been wanting to try linux for a while now, been researching about it this past year, I hear gaming is very feasible there..
I tried to use Linux for some time (Ubuntu more particularly). I found that many things from changing systems settings to installing new applications was more of a hassle than in Windows. It's probably partly a matter of getting used to the new system, but after a few months I returned to Windows and it was a relief. :) So Linux is not for everyone, but people should at least try to use it for some time. It's a priceless experience.

MysterD: I still have my GTX 970 desktop with i7 950 CPU, which has W7 x64 on it.
I was considering to build an old rig for games that don't want to cooperate with modern hardware and operating systems. I would probably use WinXP for it, although it's also not perfect. I wonder how a Win98 trip to the past would look like in modern times... :D

amok: edit - anyway, just need to wait and see. there is realy no confirmed info about w11 yet, not even when it is released. MS is goinf to showcase 'something' on the 24'th, but wheter this is the release date or not is not confirmed. So not really any info yet for another 3 days, everything else is speculations.
The leaked build give us certainty that the system is coming. It'll probably be announced on 24th. I expect a release in the 4th quarter of this year. So basically we can expect a release in the same time as the next big update for W10. Or maybe Microsoft will drop the major updates for W10, focusing only on security aspects. Everything will be revealed soon.

there are doubts about whether the leaked ISO is a fake or not (though it seems real), so i still will wait. if you do find it in the wild, i would not recomend downloading and instaling it. but yes, the annuncment in 2 days is most likely about w11. Officially it is about "what's next" for Windows.

Probably that's why it is so buggy... so I agree.

Have you managed to make the search functionality work properly? I know the basics seem to work (creating and replying to threads), but the search is abysmal.

I was replying ironically; I do have one bug (the purplepox).
Are you referring to game search? I works just fine for me. I'm on Vivaldi (Chrome engine).

Definitely, I don't see why I shouldn't. After all it's just an update that they decided to call Win11.

timppu: As for GOG games, I normally don't even check the Linux versions because:
a) I am unsure if the Linux version is up to date, compared to the Windows version.
b) Quite often the "Linux version" is merely the Windows version running in Wine...
Ah, this is useful to know (and a bit sad), so I won't even bother downloading also the linux installers in the future if\when I'll switch.

I haven't made any wider inspection, how widely the Linux version is Windows version + WINE, and how often it is an actual Linux application.

And if it is a Linux application, how often it is up to date compared to the Windows version...

Anyway, if the Windows versions run with WINE as well as e.g. Icewind Dale 2 and Planescape Torment Enhanced Edition does, or Diablo (with the little fix that Lutris provides), I couldn't care less if there is a separate Linux-specific version on top of it. Playing those games with Wine doesn't really differ playing them on Windows, at least for the worse.

I haven't tried Two Worlds lately, but on my old laptop, on Linux WINE it had somewhat lower performance than running on Windows 7, and there was a small graphical glitch in the menu screen. But I have reinstalled WINE after that, maybe I should try again whether it works better now.

That's the problem with the Internet - you don't have the audible or visual cues.

I was referring to the forum search. It seems hit and miss as to whether it works and then also doesn't seem very good at sorting...

Just checked, its broken for me too. Nothing comes up even if I search for words like 'Witcher'. Didn't know about this because it worked last time I checked.
