Can someone who knows a lot about Windows 10 tell me why Windows 10 performs better than Windows 7?

And is it still free for people who have Windows 7? And has Microsoft been improving Windows 10 lately, making it more compatible with games?

Yes, it is free for everyone with Windows 7 and up until 31st of July 2016.

I wouldn't recommend it...

But there's plenty of articles and threads about the concerns of Windows 10.

But overall for Windows 10 to perform better it would have to be more streamlined, tighter code, or better code... Each version of windows is more bloated than the last.

Perhaps the only large improvements are certain API's are being removed which break games and some DRM schemes, and DX12 is supported (but nothing under it) which suggests it's faster, assuming you have a video card that supports it.
Ok first off I'm one of the few people I know that hated Win7 as know of my older games worked on it. So I stayed with vista till Win 8 came out.

Win 10 and perform better the 8.1 in games like The Witcher 3, War Thunder and GTA5.

Exp.

In TW3 I had none of the glithces that people seen in Win 8 and Win 7 the game also ran better in Win 10, smoother.
War thunder I have better FPS (About 10) and the Ground forces has never crashed like in win 8.1
In GTA5, win 10 runs the game smoother then 8 did. In 8 the ground would glitch out and everyone would fall off the world (Funny to see) has not happen (YET) in Win 10.

As for the games I have, I have not seen one game that does not work on Win 10 or any EQ for that.
Because logic, that's why.
Windows 10 will unarguably become decent OS in couple years (just like any OS, buying fresh OS means getting tons and tons of problems on your head). Performance boost is VERY minor, if there is any. But compatibility issues are currently abound (some people say otherwise, those who play maybe dozen of games if not less).

If everything works fine for you on current OS, don't upgrade. As people say "don't fix it unless it is broken".

I didn't know Commander Spock is one of the devs for Windows 10.
