timppu: Just an increasing example of where Microsoft seems to be saying "We know better than you what you want.". I guess it is fine for total newbies, but for more advanced users, it is damn annoying.

It also increasingly seems the OS and apps give less and less information what the heck they are doing. You get some circulating symbol and at best a "please wait..." text, and wait there for minutes or hours wondering is it really doing anything, or just stuck there. I would be much happier with a proper text log where it says all the time what it is doing at any point, what commands it is running etc. Even if I didn't understand all of it, at least I can tell if it is proceeding, and where it is stuck, if it is stuck.

It seems as if they feel the less information they give to the end user, the better. The end-user has less to worry about, and MS receives less support calls because users don't detect errors as often.
Have you thought about running Linux, preferably *without* using one of the popular Desktop Environments? (Use a window manager instead, and use the command line for installing updates.)

That's strange. I've got Broken Sword 1 and 2 via Humble Bundle DRM-free, I wonder if they'd be uninstalled on another computer upgrading from Win10 to November Update. Is that why it was pulled?

The program uninstallations are due to hardcoding certain applications and configurations compatibility into windows.
Like a lot of people with not so up-do-date Speccy got it uninstalled but people with the newest versions had it stay and not uninstalled. You can remove those hardblocks.
Here you go, for power users. Remove hardcoded blocks and run whatever you want

I checked and nothing was removed on my computer either and I had installed a few dozen games which supposedly didn't work with Win 10 to test them. Even those that did not weren't uninstalled.

Still interesting that Win 10 did that (and media reports about it proves it to be true).

Just the fact that can happen without warning or at all a pop-up asking permission is concerning.
I still like 10 better than 8.1; it seems smoother for games in general.
Although I'm not sure I'd switch from Windows 7 to 10.
I do have my old Vista computer if I ever run into compatibility issues.

I have the latest version of speccy, and it have been uninstalled with the November update.

About games, I have all of then installed in another drive, and anyone of then have been uninstalled.

It has been the trend of MS behaviour towrds its customers for a while. Windows 8 cleraly had features telling the customer that he was just an idiot and that MS knew better..... But I have to admit Win 10 has pushed it even further... Holy sh.... I started plating with PCs back when Dos 3.2 looked like an innovation and this will not motivaate me to upgrade my good old 7...

“The Microsoft Services Agreement allows Microsoft to change or discontinue certain apps or content where we deem your security is at risk,” Sure. Wonderful.... Except this means MS allows itself to discontinue lincences granted by other suppliers.

So what's next ? Not being able to install apps locally and having to pay per use for using your content ? What a wonderful new world....

Man fuck that noise. If someone wants to run pirated software, it's not Micro$oft's business. If I want to break my computer in unique and special ways, customize my OS as I like, Micro$oft doesn't get a say in that shit. I don't get why they think they need to control my PC

That's what I was thinking too. Quite the hypocrisy.

I turned off defer upgrades and let both my systems update to Threshold 2 today. I never had any software or games uninstalled though, all it did was remove an outdated driver on my laptop and some broken shortcuts.

However, ALL it's telemetry services were re-enabled. I found that pretty funny considering they disabled the Threshold 2 upgrades the last couple of days and even took down the ISOs because the upgrade was ignoring your old privacy settings. And evidently it still ignores some of them.

After you install it make sure you run Shutup10 or your config software of choice to turn off anything that may have been re-enabled.

None of my programs I use on my Win 10 were uninstalled, nor were the games. Yet it did uninstall the drivers for the WIFI dongle.
So the only reason I even have the computer, it decided to remove.

Kudos to Microsoft. They really are striving hard to make this the worst version of Windows they've made in the past 20 years. Stop trying so hard, Microsoft. You've already succeeded.
