snowkatt: dont you think its time to let go of the floppy ?

in the mean time dont copy that floppy
No of course not! Just make an insanely larger type of floppy drive that's about the same in size and semi-relevant in comparison to both Mac and PC. I remember being given a floppy at school (720k) for holding homework, for practicing skills on the computer, and so i could take work home with me.

Besides it's sad that i won't see them around much anymore... :(

Elenarie: Read Ars, SuperUser or something similar for an educated decision, not some random shit on GOG's forums.
Do you also rage because support for floppy drives was removed?
That I do. I like reading this for "user" mileage, but yes, obviously check real sources. In ars, I quote:

Windows 10 is without a doubt better, and with each passing month it's going to stretch that lead and become better still.
But I'd also wait a few weeks, maybe even a couple of months, before making the move.

That's what I should probably do. Personally, my three main concerns are Cortana (I don't really like that, so I want to ensure it can be deactivated), forced updates (which already have workarounds if I am not mistaken) and, specially, I fear there shall be a hidden fee or something like that (like that solitaire dick movement, only actually affecting productivity.

That being said, I am tempted to update right now. I am among the few ones who liked Windows 8, and if I stuck with 7, it was merely for compatibility issues and that I hated it didn't understand I was admin. Ignoring those details, and installing some third party software, Win 8 was quite better, more polished and ran faster.
Allow me to quote this page
DVD playback plug-ins and add-ons
Some editions of Windows include full-featured DVD playback capability in Windows Media Player. For those that don't, you can purchase a plug-in or add-on that adds features such as full-screen video playback controls and DVD chapter listings to Windows Media Player.

For Windows 8.1. If you're running Windows 8.1, you can visit the Windows Store and purchase a DVD player add-on.

For Windows 7. Windows 7 Home Premium, Ultimate, and Enterprise come with DVD playback capability built in. If you're running Windows 7 Home Basic or Starter, you can upgrade your edition of Windows 7 to add full DVD capability.

For Windows XP or Windows Vista. If you're running Windows XP, Windows Vista Home Basic, Windows Vista Business, or Windows Vista Enterprise, you can enhance your DVD playback experience by purchasing one of the DVD decoder packs listed below.
So no, full DVD playback was never a part of Windows, it was part of some versions, or provided by OEM bloatware. But feel free to hate Win10, as long as you feel comfortable with yourself.

vv221: I initially thought you were paid by Microsoft. But now that I read this I understand better: it’s most probably Red Hat who pays you to impersonate a Windows fan, with the mission of destroying all credibility they might have left…
Heh, I don't give a shit about what he/she says anymore...

True, never let facts get in the way of a good story.

If you and Elenarie could learn to present facts in a less condescending way, maybe people could start to listen to you more willingly..

Control Panel is still there, under the name of Control Panel.
eh, good example.. this answer sounds like "you're dumb lol".
(btw, why is there still a separated "Settings"?)

"Requires a normal to high IQ though"
"assuming you have 2 brain cells"
He "offended" MS\Win10 and you offend him? Great tactic to convince people..

"Totally optional"
we already discussed about this and we don't agree, but I'll explain again my idea:
something is really optional if it's clear to identify, easy to change and has good alternatives.
If it needs a script\hack\program or hidden\scattered\unclear options.. for a normal user it basically becomes mandatory (and an unneeded annoyance for others).

Some people badly react to your replies, because they often appear biased and unfriendly (expecially Elenarie's).
Also, the fact that you and her\him team up against some users in every Win10 thread.. doesn't help either.

There's more:
http://www.skynews.com.au/business/tech/2015/08/01/windows-10--you-ll-need-to-pay-for-solitaire.html
I updated my tablet from 8.1 to 10. I'm still not sure if I like it better or not. The tablet interface has its ups and downs, although in general it's a good compromise between the start screen plus desktop and desktop only. I still might end up switching to desktop mode. I did have to configure a few things, in particular to turn off all the data collection that happens by default, but in general the OS looks usable. It does free up a couple of GB, which is a good thing for a 30GB tablet.

DVD playback is an integral part of Windows 7 (except the very basic versions), so naturally Windows 7 users see the lack of it as a drop in functionality. For Windows 8 the Media Centre Pack was offered for free at some point, and that included DVD playback.

That said, it's silly to make a big deal of it these days, considering that you can easily install VLC or Kodi or some other free software that plays DVD's. Also, according to PC World if you're upgrading from a version of Windows that includes Media Centre support, you'll automatically get the Windows DVD Player app, which may be crappy, but it proves that Microsoft hasn't removed this functionality for those who already had it.

That said, I will keep my HTPC on Windows 7 partly because Windows Media Player plays interlaced DVD's more nicely than VLC does.

For some reasons, people think that "Settings" replaced control panel, similar to how "This PC" replaced "Computer" and "My Computer". Since "Control Panel" isn't readily available, giving the string to search for does help.

Context. See the rest of the sentence for it.

Same as above.

MS? I thought he was offending anyone who liked Win10. Or did I misunderstood his "retarded monkey, who never used a computer, and have a QI 100 points below the Forrest Gump level." sentence? Was that directed at Microsoft?

Your opinion is respected. I may find it wrong, since I do find anything you can turn off and not use to be optional, but some people do like to have a single on/off switch that they are able to toggle without paying any attention to what it does. If I complain that something is not optional because I can't be bothered to find out how to turn it off, does that make it mandatory or does that make me lazy? And how is that different from saying that Dune 2 is unplayable on modern computers, because I don't want to find out how to set up DosBox, because I find it hard to set up?

I do try to be unbiased, though it is possible I fail. As for teaming up, it's no different from me teaming up with someone who says that Steam isn't DRM, that abandonware isn't a legal term, or that regional pricing is a good theory (though usually a bad practice). It may be unpopular, but something being popular doesn't make it right.
Believe it or not, I go out of my way to remove solitaire, minesweeper or whatever games they end up installing as part of a normal Windows installation. As long as they don't charge to uninstall it, I'm not going to cry about it.

In addition, it's not like there aren't about thousands of solitaire clones (and variations of clones) out there (which cost nothing) out there in the wild written in any different language for about any platform.
Or move the games from Win7 to Win10 (easier method if you want an automated process).
