Does ALT+ENTER change anything?

Or do you have a function button+another button that changes that setting?

Check your GPU options for aspect ratio settings.

na. that just makes it a small window as opposed to a full screen with boarders.

What's your GPU?
so i started up Shelter and it went to full screen no prob. Maybe cause its a newer game. have problems with dosbox games and others like Morrowind.

GPU is AMD Radeon R5 Graphics if that helps

Take a look here for info on how to set aspect ratio on Catalyst Control Center.
Do also try to change the output setting in DosBox, especially if it's set to Surface.

Open the Dosbox_????.conf file, or run the Graphic Mode Setup, since it should have the output method option there.

Yes! for some games like Broken Sword its more of a perfect square. lol

Do the games your trying to play support wide screen? Look in the graphics options inside the game to change the resolution to 1366 x 768.

I would say. i could understand for some of the older games (dos) but for say Morrowind and Fahrenheit i should work. tried to change all the res. option but it still stays a box.

In that particular case, there may be some degree of vertical distortion.

However, with these older games, it's normal to have borders on the sides if they're played on modern machines, since they predate widescreen monitors and thus were largely made with a 4:3 aspect ratio.

There is a way to prevent games from falling into the "windowbox" format shown in the second image: Turn on the "Keep aspect ratio" option in the Dosbox Configurator program, which will eliminate the horizontal bars on top of and below the game.

Unfortunately, widescreen resolutions in games didn't become common until several years after those were released.
