I already moved to Win10, but I would be down for a nicer looking interface.
Maybe a normal Start menu? Instead of this unusable crap we have since Win8.1? Have been using Classic Shell instead.

I don't speak Dutch. Can someone translate that to English so I can understand what this is all about?

Something about rounded edges with emoticons and some new update for Outlook?
What I'd want:

- Quit the spying on me.
- Make buttons (interactive elements) actually look like buttons. Make windows look disticint (they are separate looks on the data) again, and not like a scrapbook.
- Quit the horrible "we". Like in "We are installing some updates". Who's that? It's scary! Sounds like some people are about to check out my BDSM pr0n collection, while they're at it.. What's wrong with "Windows installing updates"?

What are the names of those websites? So I can... be sure to avoid them.

this is, actually not that bad!@fterall
You do realize that Windows 7 was discontinued last year in terms of public consumer support right?

As for the matter of using Windows, I got tired of it becoming more like Skyward Sword and less like Breath of the Wild.

In Lay: They removed the tweaking options and didn't let users experiment; plus it feels like you're on a guided tour the entire time and the theming sucks. Plus there's this annoying assistant they enabled that I want absolutely nothing to do with. I like being in control, unguided, discovering things on my own.

So I switched to Linux fully in 2016 and never looked back. Especially after messing up the drive headers after a MBR to GPT conversion gone horribly right.
Sorry maybe I am daft, but I still don't quite understand what the OP is talking about.

What "indistinctive end of windows 7"? Windows 7 hasn't been supported for over a year, the support ended January 14, 2020. Are you talking about that, or something else, like that soon all currently running Windows 7 systems will suddenly stop working altogether?

Is the rest of the OP's message some kind of commentary about some new or forthcoming features of Windows 10 with new updates, like the look of emoticons (whatever they are) etc.? What "softer tone"? What does this all have anything to do with M.2 connectors and expansion cards?

WTF are we discussing here??? Can you please be less cryptic with your messages?

It's not perfect, but it's the only real option these days.
Support may have officially ended, but windows still likes to throw some surprise ''updates''. Got 2 recently.

One was the browser Edge, don't remember what the second one was.
Microsoft Security Essentials also still receives updates (Though you cannot DL it anymore). Info

Still have no idea what OP is talking about, though. I blame drugs.

Also, a liitle tidbit; bit the bullet recently and DL'ed the Epic Launcher.
You can't run it normally, (Well you can, it just throws some missing *.dll'' errors) because it needs some spyware from Win10.

I'm glad it's not just me that has no clue what this is about.

All I'm aware of is that Windows 7 hasn't been supported since December 2019, and I have seen some reports that Microsoft is tweaking the UI in one of the big updates this year (it looks like they're going back to something more similar to Aero).

I have no idea how the two things may be related in OP's mind.

tbh I don't hate the Win8.1 user interface.

I stopped accepting updates to my Windows 7, fortunately just before MS apparently added some Win10-like telemetry to it in an update. For all I know, MS will add, if they haven't already, a nag screen that Windows 7 support has ended and you really should move on to Windows 10. I'm trying to avoid all that.

Then again as it isn't receiving security fixes anymore, I try not to go online with it unless I really have to, and at some point I will disable internet connectivity from it completely, and use it only for offline gaming (for games that work better on Windows 7 than 10). I also have Linux on that same machine which is for online use.

I can live with the Windows 10 user interface and get work done there or play games on it, but I still think it is a bit stupid and incoherent in some ways (compared to e.g. Windows 7, or even the Linux GUIs I use). Things like:

- Split-brain syndrome where some of the settings and stuff is in the old "control panel" like user interface, and some in the newer, simplified/dummified, user interface. Some settings are even in both. Incoherent.

- I still haven't gotten over it how bad the Start menu is compared to Windows 7 (and earlier), mainly related to having no subfolders in the menu. That makes it harder for me to find some applications in the menu, e.g. if I want to check what GOG games I've installed to the machine and what shortcuts each of them have. In Windows 7, I have one clear GOG.com folder under which my GOG games are, grouped together.

The flat Windows 10 Start menu is just messy compared to the multilayered Windows 7 Start menu.

Overall I feel current Windows 10 is under some kind of transition period, trying to move from the "old classic" Windows interface to something else, the modern UI. That's why it is currently so messy and incoherent. But I guess you can get used to its quirks, until they overhaul it once again.
