So, I preordered Cyberpunk 2077 on GOG(because I wanted to support developers), I saw there were a lot of bugs and glitches on release day, but I did not request a refund. But when I saw a post from CD Projekt Red in which they said they will help people who want refunds, I decided to ask for it too. Because I don't want to play an unfinished game, and I had no way to see the real state of the game before release because they did not allow anyone to publish their gameplay footage. So I want my money back.

I sent a request on 19.12.2020. and still no one replied to me, just generic messages. So can I expect to get my refund ever. If you don't refund games it's ok but let me know, like this they talk about 30 day refund but they don't ever answer on request.

And last, why would I ever buy games on GOG again? They don't have better prices then Steam and their support is much much worse, I respect CDProjektRed's games but this is complete disrespect of buyers.

I preordered on GOG in June 2019 and requested a refund through GOG after CDP's refund window closed but within GOG's discretionary 30 day after release window (which hasn't closed yet). Didn't touch the game.

I got an automatic email asking if I accept GOG credits (I do), replied to that, and three days later got another automated message telling me to email them with "#solved" if they had, and that they're working on extending the winter sale discounts to "those that we couldn't have helped during the promo period" [sic]. (Yes, I know this is valid English, but does it mean what they think it means? Hmmm.)

Still waiting for my credits. CDP was offering refunds to unsatisfied customers until December 21.

GOG's refund deadline is 30 days from purchase or release or a preorder regardless if the game was downloaded and played.

GOG also offers a refund for severe technical issues they can't help the customer with. Said issues and GOG / CDP's inability to resolve them have been well-documented.

I do hope you aren't the type to demand a refund, and then intend to re-buy the game 2 weeks later. Yes i did see someone saying this very thing for Hello Games with No Mans Sky.

If you have every intention of playing the game but just are iffy about the bugs, you could just wait rather than doing the run-around.

I do commend you on wanting to support the developers (and from GoG more of it goes to them than elsewhere), however i learned long ago that you don't buy a game on day one. Also NEVER pre-order games. Preorder is silly on digital distribution. The purpose of Pre-orders was to get an idea of how many people wanted a product, and ensure with physical copies that that many or more were available when the game came out. For digital games it is totally pointless except to lock you into full price.

There are examples of games go from full price to half off in just a couple weeks, giant budget games because mechanics were awful of they outright lie on content, or buggy as hell.

Exactly, I played 18h and 15minuts, what is the problem? GOG rules say I can ask for a refund in 30 days after purchase no matter how many hours I played. Also, 18 hours is nothing for a game which requires 100+ hours to finish(not talking only about the main quest of course), I barely started anything. Also I did not play the game after sending a refund request. It is not my fault they advertise refunds no matter how much you played, if this is not the case for that I don't know what is. They released, unfinished game full of bugs, which they intentionally false hyped years before and prevented people from telling the truth about the game before release, this is for lawsuit(like many people submitted), not only refund requests and they can not fulify even that.

And thank you for advice rtcvb32, I will never preorder, or buy game day one on GOG, and I don't think I will buy Cyberpunk 2077 ever again if I get my refund. Also why would I support a company which can not even answer to my request, and a company which falsely advertises game, false advertise refund system and later lied about refunding game to unsatisfied customers, I am an unsatisfied customer, but no one cares to at least reply to my request. Much smaler companys replied to me much much faster, this is very unprofesional what GOG do, I can see Steam is still the king...

Honestly GoG is straight forward, there appears to be only one edition. Unlike say Ubisoft or Activision which have a dozen editions, limited editions, premium, gold, silver, includes cheap minature, etc.

I was just referring preorders in general. I've only seen one preorder that worked correctly, that's in 2008 when FF12 was coming out (PS2). Then again that's a physical disc....

Well, 18 hours of play time sounds like awfully a lot to figure out "the real state of the game". I am not GOG so I won't be commenting on their policies, but to me you just sound dishonest with yourself. Something must have been keeping you playing the game, right?

I guess it depends from person to persone. For someone 18h is a month of playing, for someone 1 day of playing. Personally, I figured out the game is not for me after an hour or two I guess, but I was thinking "I was waiting for this, let's give it more time", and time just passed. But when I saw that post from CDProjekt Red, I decided to request a refund.

Teceem, how I can do "proper research" when everything you get when you search Cyberpunk 2077 before its release was talking about the biggest and best game of all time. No one mentioned technical issues. If you are going to tell me not to believe rumors, I would not, but a lot of those rumors were told to us by CDProjektRed. But if you don't like refunding stuff ok, I think it is my right to request refund, and if there is a limit on how long you can play some game, they should say that, like Steam.

But also, my point is not do I deserve a refund or not, my point is they don't respect customers enough to even reply on request(I don't count generic messages). But ok if they don't respect my money, I guess they don't need it. Like I said I will probably stop buying games on GOG.

Exactly my point: the game wasn't released yet, so there were no reasons to assume anything (including that it's a good game, worth buying / or that it won't be full of bugs at release).

Mmmm... I remember putting money in for Might No 9. Though i tended to give $5 here and there, and hope the project turns out good, not pre-buy a game in early development.

Seems non-computer games work better on Kickstarter. Card games, board games, etc. Much lower development investment to get it working.

Actually one i'm proud of, was the Enchanted Cave 2. Enchanted cave was a free flash game where fights tend to be fixed outcomes (damage x speed) and you might take gambles, to either die or leave the dungeon. That game turned out well. I gave a review to the dev on things to improve it, but otherwise it was exactly as promised and exactly as expected. (improvements had to do with being able to set equipment for quick changing vs doing it all manually, and more UI changes so you can do it all via keyboard if you wanted).

You obviously don't like preordering, that's ok but I do, and I had pretty good experience with it on other platforms, this year I preordered Death Stranding and Horizon Zero Dawn, both greate games. With Death Stranding I had technical issues and the seller started the refund process the same day I requested it(or maybe day after, I can not remember, but there was no half of a month waiting for money). Also I, like many people, just don't want to, how you say, properly informe before playing the game, I want to start a new game without knowing half of stuff before starting it, there are a lot of people who don't even want to watch the trailer, and that is ok. That's the reason why there should be a normal functioning refund seastem.  If you want to inform them it's up to you and it's fine, but that's not an excuse for not answering on a refund request.

But I don't want to waste more time on this, trying to get your money or even answer from GOG is obviously futile work. I will just stop buying anything from GOG, if they do not support me, why would I support them, when they only know how to lie to their customers. Simple as that.
