Hey. I was wondering if GOG games will massively stop working on Windows 11???

Will the old games still be playable or not really???

For instance Baldur's Gate or Heroes of Might and Magic, or Fallout 2???

Will the GOG library one has amassed become unplayable on Windows 11???

You should go and ask Bill Gates about that (yeah, I know he's busy with microchipping people and all that pandemic stuff, but still, I'm sure he'll find time for such a charming individual as you).

Most of them will probably still work the same on W11 as with W10. The real question comes later on with Microsoft already calling the normal Win32/64 API that most applications & games are made with "legacy" as if they intend to push the UWP stuff mainstream and deprecate it in a few years time (that certainly would break a lot of stuff)... So far everything I've seen from other people testing still works the same, but I'm definitely keeping an archived copy of the last W7 + older W10 + Linux ISO's "just in case".

Anything that works on 10 should work on 11 in theory, so I would expect everything to work fine. 11 is not a major change from 10 under the hood.

MS isn't really pushing UWP anymore, MS knows it failed and you can tell that by the recent policy changes in regards to the store.

The real question Is... Why not?

People were asking the same thing when transitioning from XP to Vista, then to 7, then to 8 amd 8.1, then Windows 10.

We should grow up and move on.

Only if you're not vaxxed.

Seriously though, its unlikely, since the only thing Windows has going for it is ''wide'' software compatibility and MS is unlikely to throw that away. Until getting good info saying otherwise, expect Win11 to be a reskin of Win10 with doubleplusgood ''online features''.

I think this got fact checked a while back: It is technically an implant, not a microchip.

Depends on the publisher/dev. But at least for now, you can backup most of your games, and while these backups stay intact, they will keep working likely forever in Windows 10.

All games other than an extreme outlier, run fine on windows 7, 8, 8.1, 10, and will run fine on windows 11. As they will continue to run on windows 12, 13 and into the future. Stop propagating then “nothing runs on windows” crap.

By archive, you mean backup your computer or downloading an iso file from the official page?
