Barry_Woodward: There's hope yet! Just yesterday:

DrearierSpider: "Any chance of getting it onto GOG at some point?"
Jonathan Blow: "Possibly .. we need to work out the legal details and I haven't had time due to just finishing the game."

Interesting. After all, it's not on Humble yet either. Plus there's the console builds to maintain as well.

That was fast, I only saw the announcement this morning that it was coming to Humble "later".
The game doesn't seem to be a big hit. Numbers from SteamSpy after the release day:

Owners: 6,754 ± 1,794
Players in the last 2 weeks: 1,327 ± 980 (19.65%)

http://steamspy.com/search.php?s=witness

Half the owners already bought the game while it was in beta (or pre-ordered?). So on release day only about 3300 people picked up The Witness on Steam.

It's common knowledge that SteamSpy is not very reliable for a few days after release. So I googled for confirmation.

From the creator of Steamspy, to a "How accurate is SteamSpy?" question:
" Hi
Creator of SteamSpy here.
It has its limitations, namely free weekends. Anything below 30K is wildly unreliable. And you need at least 3 full days worth of data, so new games are also a bit off.
But it's good enough to research the market. I'm an analyst at my day job and I'm using a lot of really expensive tools (we're talking >10K dollars per year for each). SteamSpy is one of the more accurate ones actually :) "

Lets wait a few more days...

PS: Although already has data for at least two weeks. So I don't know if it's a few days since release or since the data started to get gathered.

Ok, I didn't know that. Will look at the statistics again in some days.

PaterAlf: The last game Blow released didn't cost €36.99. I doubt that a puzzle game will be a big hit at that price. Puzzle games are not that popular.

madth3: Not sure what you would call a big hit but The Talos Principle hasn't done bad at that price.
It was also part of at least one Humble Bundle over the last year, so I wouldn't rely on every single one of those sales being at full price. It's also gone on sale multiple times via Steam, another important aspect to keep in perspective.

I'm sure jefequeso can confirm the sales boost that occurs when your title goes on sale and I *THINK* he's confirmed it in the past for the Moon Sliver, I believe?

I wish GOG would get the damn game just so that this thread would die :D
It's really weird that Braid still isn't on GOG. It seems to perfect for GOG: a popular indie game that sold pretty well. What happened?

That's interesting, thanks for the head's up.
I will buy that instanly. I'm counting on you, GOG :-)
quite sure i would buy it if released here...
was not planning on buying the game first as i though the price tag a bit steep for a "puzzle game" but after seeing some streamers play it for a bit i really started to like the game a lot
While I'm not really in to puzzle games normally this did start to get really interesting after watcing Jesse Cox play it.

+1 vote for it
