There are some pretty cool 1C titles and series I'm hoping will appear on GOG some day:

AIM
Necrovision
Parkan 2
Planet Alcatraz
The Tomorrow War
Theatre of War
XIII Century

I've already played most of the above on Steam but I'd much rather own a DRM-free GOG version, with all its TLC.

AIM, Parkan 2, Planet Alcatraz and The Tomorrow War are some of the most unique games I've played.
They are not 100% perfect by any means but still cool and original.

My guess is that there's some licensing issues at play, so I'm probably answering my own question, but am I the only one here who thought these games were fun ?

Not played any of those as they are steam. You never know though, might get some of them. Vote on the wish is is the only voice we have though.

Aren't 1C like the biggest shovelware company in existence?

Are they in the same league as king.com and rpgmaker?

I would strongly disagree with you Sir. They have published well-known series like King's Bounty and Men of War.

Even TotalBiscuit included two of their releases in his 'NEW definitive list of strategy games', namely a game called Perimeter as well as King's Bounty The Legend.

I admit the 1C games might be much more popular in Russia and Europe though, as I've rarely seen an American, Canadian or Australian do playthroughs of them, let alone review them.

Edit: just because a publisher is not popular with American media does not make it a shovelware.

Nope. Love some of them myself and a load of people on here would likely enjoy Planet Alcatraz (among others). I think its just GOG's "curation" that might be holding things back - lets face it - PA has a terrible english dub and needs some messing around with the files to get the russian audio and english subs to work together (least on the steam version).

Personally though, I'd still like to see more of their games here - and one or two good uns from Buka games as well (Man of Prey / Marauder in particular!).

I do apologise, where can I buy them DRM free and download them without client requirement?

As to the topic at hand, I think that GOG doesn't consider any of those games to be real money-makers (they have been featured in many bundles already) in order to give them any release priority. Maybe we'll see some of them scattered across next year's release schedule.

Gamersgate has a few if I remember correctly. Fireflower perhaps as well.

And maybe bringing some of the old Focus Interactive game library on GOG would be nice, too, neh?! They do have some nice stuff like Loki, Silverfall and some more.

As for 1C, they have great titles and plenty of shovelware. But that's tht thing with the russian companies: they are making good stuff supported by funds obtained from more casual games (games that are very successful on the russian market, but not so great on the western market, as the companies lack the proper resources to make a good localization)

And maybe some of the pirate titles like the Age of Pirates series and Pirates of the Carribean (Sea Dogs 3 in Russia).

Actually I do have planet Alcatraz, cant remember if I have disc or from store. Gamersgate, not if my life depended on it :o)

I liked Necrovision. Definitely wouldn't consider 1C as a shovelware distributor. They produce quality games, maybe sometimes a little rough on the edges, but often very unique in terms of story even in over done genres. Seriously, doesn't anyone else remember when the vampires attacked during World War I?
