It has been a nightmare trying to first update BG3 (haven't played it in a couple months) and getting an E9 failed to install every couple megabytes. Also, super helpful support center advice (6 out of 130 found it helpful at the time of writing).

I then, after going through the forums decided to uninstall (there go 140 GBs) and reinstall. Well it wouldn't let me uninstall with your software (E15, uninstall failed). So I decided to go nuclear and just try a fresh reinstall of GOG galaxy.

It did the same thing (E9 after 5 minutes of downloading) and I can't get it to work no matter what. Looking at the forums this has been an issue for a long while, and you haven't fixed it?

GOG Galaxy is designed this way to encourage users not to use it.

1) Use offline installers and forget client software.

2) If you can't do that for some strange reason, use Heroic instead of Galaxy.

But if all installation and uninstallation attempts cause error messages to appear, I'm willing to guess that the root cause is not Galaxy, but something on your computer, such as insufficient drive space, missing permissions to write in the destination folder, antivirus software locking files, etc.
No clue for how long this has been an issue. Because i use offline-installers and never had any of those issues at all (failing to install or uninstall). However, the offline-installer is currently a older build from September. Not sure how long it takes for the newest update, but if there is any failure... they may postpone it. Usually a matter of not more than a few days, sometimes less than 1 day.

I don't think it's a general issue. I use Galaxy for installation and updates and I've never had an error like that.

But yes, if that happens to the OP quite often, they should use the offline installers instead. No use for a client, if it doesn't work. At least at GOG the client is optional.

Same here. Don't think I've had an install/update fail so far.

Either way, offline installers are always there, although their updates usually come a bit later than Galaxy ones because of the installer creation process.

The one good thing about Galaxy at the moment is the ability to revert to older game versions, up to 5 previous ones.
i had no problem using it. but now i use linux ubuntu so i have to do without.
Would be good for those affected revealing their detailed system specs, perhaps something is dodgy here on their end.

I am almost certain, Baldurs Gate 3 surely can act cranky if a PC is pretty much outdated or with low specs in general.

As well, some people use FSR 3.1 (or lower), it may help with performance but it will decrease the games stability.
One of the dumber things that Galaxy tends to assume is that your TEMPFS is on C:, rather than wherever you might want it to be. And the thing is, it really is a bad system because it downloads, then extracts, then moves all the files about willy nilly instead of just popping it open with a swiftness like InnoExtract does to where you choose.
It seems there was indeed a issue with the newest update, but it is probably already fixed now, 1 day after release:
https://www.gog.com/forum/baldurs_gate_3/notice_regarding_failed_updates_to_the_latest_version_of_the_game

I just finished downloading the updated offline installer. [v4.1.1.5970269]... as i am not enough of an addict for being even faster than that.

According to my test the newest update is working properly. The only issue is a data mismatch on the launcher, which is probably a very old bug, i got it on every single version except the previous one.

Which version of Galaxy are you even talking about?

If it's anything above version 1.2.67, then that's most likely the problem.

If you are using 2.0 or above, then I suggest you permanently uninstall that crap, then install version 1.2.67 and try again.

Also, be sure to delete the updater file before you run the software, so that it cannot update to the crappy versions ever again.

OK, as a offline-installer user i have no issue with this view but it may be difficult to explain it this way to someone totally in favor for launchers.

I was actually making a reference to a bit from the film Idiocracy ;)
(that said, I still don't care for galaxy much)
