First time I have ever used GOG, but I received my free Witcher key for buying a new GPU. I'm trying to pre-download witcher and it's god awfully slow. Like its downloading at 0.1Mb/s; I left it on all day and night and its only %30 done.
I'm using that GOG galaxy to download it.

Is there some settings I missed where I can pick region or something?

At this speed I'm actually tempted to just buy the game on steam, at lest it will download in 20mins. lol
You can't play it for a few days anyway...

I know this. But that's not my point here. If other games will download this slow, then I'm not using GOG or at lest this galaxy, if its that.

You're likely using GOG Galaxy Beta, and the Beta has a weird glitch that does that. Try restarting it a few times. If that doesn't work, use the GOG Downloader.

To use the Downloader:
Get it here: https://www.gog.com/downloader

And then click on Witcher 3, "MORE v" and "Downloader Links"

(I don't have W3, but that's how it works for all the other games. I heard elsewhere the downloader is fast)

GOG has WAY faster download speeds for me than Steam. So you should have it downloaded pretty quick.

Yes. Galaxy is slow (at the moment).
Just download it from the GOG website instead. That should be very fast.
I have no speed issues with Galaxy, I believe it's only with The Witcher 3.
I downloaded Rise of the Triad from the giveaway with 5mb/s
The GOG downloader is working great, thank you. Downloading at full speed.
Working great for me, full bandwith use.
I just got Witcher 3 for Christmas and have ran right into this problem. I downloaded the downloader as was recommended, but now I'm confused. There's a mention of "Downloader Links" being an option under the "More v" button, but that's not there. Do I have to abort the download first before that option appears? It's taken me hours just to download 3gb so I'm very reluctant to abort it, as you can expect.

The Downloader Links appear on the website, are you using Galaxy by any chance?
Yes I'm using Galaxy.

Melrick72: Yes I'm using Galaxy.
The 'downloader' is for downloading the installers without using Galaxy, if you're already using Galaxy and want to download the installers (for backup purposes) you can go to More -> Backup & Extras.
Galaxy has its own built-in download manager.
I just went in to the website and now I see that option there. So can you perhaps tell me if I just click on the "Patch 1.11 English" patch and that's it? Do I have to abort the patch in Galaxy first before I do that?

That depends on what you're trying to do.
Are you trying to download it for backup purposes (on an external HDD for example)?
If that's the case and you selected it from the Backup & Extras option from Galaxy, just let it finish.
The old downloader can't resume Galaxy downloads AFAIK so you'd lose the progress.
No. I installed the game today, for the first time, and it went straight into downloading everything else once it finished installing from the discs, which was 17gb, which I'm assuming is the patches.
