Instead of getting 24mb per second i get now almost 5mb per second. It is slower than what i am used to.
Wanted to fill my 5tb external hdd with the last missing games, guess not this time.

The speed i get is still okay... not Steam-speed but fully sufficient.

The major issues i had was a lot of corruption, even 1 week after the incompetent "server crash"; and i had to download all my data once again. Combined with endless issues on my hardware (major HDD failed, CPU burned, board failed) and software-side (server causing corruption, OS reinstall required, every single software need a reinstall) it was adding up the most bad way possible. It was a nightmare i always wanted to avoid but with my bad luck... it simply had to happen.

However, you do not really need bad luck running into some server issues here... as this matter is unfortunately rather common. I really hope they can improve in the not so far future.

I am just happy there was not a meteorite crashing into my PC yet... it could always be worse.

Seriously, i tell you: If i ONLY had to deal with a slow download, i would now create a big party and smiling for a whole week in a row because of my big luck.

I am now fixing stuff since months already... lot of cash, lot of work... just insane the ressources spend... but i was now coming pretty far and it looks better than ever. Yet, it was not a waste, clearly not... because i got a lot of wisdom by going through all this struggle and figuring out issues.

Timboli: Not mysterious at all really. Just means that somewhere in the download is corruption. Most downloaders don't endlessly keep trying to overcome errors, they eventually timeout after downloading all they can.
What's strange is the game is fully playable without any bugs or missing stuff. I was expecting one to happen during my run, but I finished it with no issues whatsoever.
Guess those devs was just adding a lot of bloated data in order to make their game size a bit more feisty and believable Finally we found out the industrys most dirty secret.

It could be that everything downloaded just fine, but some reporting packets of data were lost in the process and so perhaps an error was assumed.

That said, during install any errors encountered should have been reported. If that did not happen, then likely the download was indeed okay.

Themken: I hope GOG is in the process of going through the servers and games one by one and checking them after the big ouch a while back.
I haven’t been paying much attention here in recent years. What was “the big ouch”?

A big download server provider GOG used had a catastrophical failure a couple of weeks ago. Things do not seem totally 100% fixed yet after that but it is, to be honest, mostly fixed.

I see. Thank you for the explanation.

Update on technical issues affecting downloading and updating games
So any idea how long to wait until the slow download speed for offline installers will be fixed?
It still goes under 5 mb per second and i checked my connection on a site even though it goes to 169 mbit/s which should be somewhere 21 mb per second
Side question did some thread get deleted again?
I can't see more than 5 topics in what i participated again
What i wanted to say is there anyone who doesn't have slow downloads?

I haven't had any speed issues with downloading GOG offline installers at all.
I just tried downloading two 4GB files from GOG with the vanilla Edge browser in Windows 10, they downloaded at about 24 MBytes/s (= 192 Mbits/s) speed.
Can't complain. My internet connection is a 600Mbits/s cable modem connection I think, currently connected wired.

Also on win 10 and vanilla edge browser, but i did get 21mb per second from gog before so i don't know what it is this time that it doesn't go beyond 5mb per second it usually wants to go even lower to around 4 mb per second.
How am i supposed to download dragon age origins, gonna wait until it gets fixed to download the rest of the games.

Is that 5 Mbytes/sec or 5 Mbits/sec?

I personally would probably feel fine with 5 Mbytes/s download speeds, even if faster is always better.

However when some others are reporting download speeds like 1 Mbytes/sec or under, those are not fine even for me, at least for games like Cyberpunk 2077 or Baldur's Gate 3.

It's 5 Mbytes/sec not meaning mbits/sec
It doesn't even stay on 5 it usually fluctates between 4 higher or lower
Tested another site download was at 16mb per second
