I guess that you have made someone feel butthurt in the forum. Now he/she keeps dropping the salt in the form of downvotes whenever he/she sees your comments. Let's just say that I did make someone feel the same way, and it feels so good. I get occasional downvotes here and there. But I think it is not just the average Gog user, I think that some Gog staff is doing that as a form of punishment re-educational measures, like in communist regimes. Whenever they ban me, they drop like 5 or 10 of my reputation points. And I guess that there is the same person that has several accounts, each with over 1000 positive reputation points and with cats as profile pictures. That one is very toxic and abusive, probably very bitter and lonely too.

Review for a game that came out on GOG 9 minutes ago:

"OH MY GOD my father bought this game for me when I was just a child, it's the best thing ever, a bit aged for sure, but if you have taste you'll love it too. I think there's a patch to fix the controls for the Steam version, look that up to get the most of it."

InkPanther: How many of those heavily downvoted reviews are lazy one-liners with some underlining personal grudge against the game, its dev or the world, instead of being an actual informative review?
Dude people should be allowed to negatively review a video game if there is something that they do not like at all about playing that video game and things that the video games developers did to the video games like add things or remove things from the video games that the sequels of the video games previous video games had.

Ok I can 100% agree with you that those reviews that they should not be on the gog.com version of the video games telling PC video gamers to purchase the Steam version just because it has a patch to fix the controls, which I am sure the gog.com version a PC video gamer who makes mods can fix.

Ok do you have a problem that I have a speech impediment? Do you have a problem that I stutter in real life as well?

I tend to repeat words over and over in real life as well when I talk to people. I cannot control it.

That is just the way I talk and make my sentences.

User2570289: @jekehu, do you have any examples? Most of the games I'm interested in aren't downvoted. The only thing I could find is that Gog has a new tendency to release a lot of anime games/novels, which may upset some people.

@nightcraw1er.488, That is not true, but your comment is exactly what you are talking about. An extreme position without any room or mercy for all the people around you.
So sayeth the person opening with “that is not true” without evidence or reason. My evidence, just look at the mass downvoting in this thread.

1. How on Earth would I know that?
2. Perhaps I'm just ignorant (if so, my apologies), but I've never heard of a speech impediment carrying over to writing before.
3. It's just a little humor. People are so super sensitive these days. I make mistakes, I make spelling errors or miss some obbvious things etc. I'm ok with people making jokes there too. There's nothing wrong with some good natured ribbing. It used to be a mark of a friendly community.

Edit: Hey, I just made a spelling mistake right there, and it wasn't even intentional :D How perfect is that?

Disgruntled purchasers that missed the refund deadline... ?.

Reading this thread, I wonder: how is it that you think that "Do you find this review helpful" translates into "Do you like this game"? Bad reviews and badly reviewed reviews are two separate things, aren't they? I'm not even sure that marking a review as helpful necessarily means that you agree with the review, and in any case, the voting, unlike the reviews themselves, cannot be filtered to only include owners of the game (and why should they? People tend to read reviews before buying the game).

If there is a bot downvoting all the reviews of a game indiscriminately, it doesn't affect the review ranking, and you can judge for yourself whether or not you find the "most helpful review" to actually be helpful.

Logically if you find a review "helpful" it means you can neither "agree" or "disagree" with it, since you have not played the game and the review was helpful in deciding whether you actually want to. Marking as "helpful" should only be vote on how informative and well written the review is. Unfortunately I'm quite sure it's more often than not used by people who have already played the game as means to "upvote" people they agree with and punish opinions they dislike.

Or there is a mysterious guild of downvoters and trolls roaming internet forums to downvote and report anything which goes against their interests like the groups* PR firms and nation states have. The only way to find out would be a GDPR or some other kind of action.

I don't need a evidence or reason for a case every one can prove by looking at the games around. Don't waist anyones time by demanding for obvouse things, this has has nothing to do with reasoned arguments.

By the way, your proof is based on a consequential error. Just because people don't have the same understanding of downvoting doesn't mean they are polarizing. Downvoting in a thread is not the same as writing a game review with few stars. While the former can simply mean a disagreement with the writer, the latter has a huge impact on sales for GoG and the developers. On the other hand, it's pretty clear that a thread that lumps everyone together and contains a lot of hate will get down votes.
