hedwards: Well somebody has to. It sends a shitty message to newcomers when they get falsely accused of being scammers. I personally wouldn't be here at all if the community had treated newcomers as poorly when I joined as they do now.
For those of us that have been on the internet for more than a week, it's bloody obvious that feeding trolls doesn't result in fewer trollings.
phaolo: The problem is that some of us directly witness to alts and scammers, and then you show up every N days posting the same thing about generic witch hunts.
Also, I'm not obviously discussing with this guy\s to obtain fewer trolling. Only Gog could (maybe) fix it.
The answers the same either way. Whether or not a particular person is a troll or scammer, the reaction doesn't work. In one case the action is wrong, and the trolls win. In the other case the action is correct and you've just fed the troll.
The only correct way of handling it is to not bother talking about it and just restrict trades to people you actually know and write contest threads that don't reward people for using alts.
As far as witnessing goes, I see too much "proof" in the form of "well, I looked at it crosseyed after drinking red bull and it kind of looks like there's a problem" going on for my taste. I don't doubt that there are folks out there that are scamming, but people are way too sure of themselves in too many cases to have much credibility. Those whole threads aren't suspected scammer threads, they're known scammer threads, which is a completely different matter.

DyNaer: Well that's the result of GOG doing nothing , except if you report with proofs some users "activities".
i'm always for giving a second chance, especially to newcommers, puting them on the scammers list , because of a mistake , it's not a really good message send ot the newcommers.
If i was in the same situation as the original poster, the forums wouldn't be a place i would come back :(
From where I sit, Mr. Gog just doesn't give two shits about the forum. And that's a much bigger problem. You've got people blatantly trolling the forum with no consequences.
Ultimately, until and unless Mr. Gog sends actual mods into the forum the only reasonable course of action is to stop feeding the freaking trolls. The only thing that makes the trolls go away is if they can't get enough lulz to make it worthwhile. Having entire threads as dedicated scoreboards is clearly not working for the purposes of reducing the scamming/trolling.
