Alexim: Another advantage is that this is a curated store
avatar
Ancient-Red-Dragon: "Curation" on GOG is not an advantage, but rather, the antithesis of one.

It leads to GOG rejecting all sorts of good or great games for no legitimate reason.

And it also leads to GOG censoring games by way of simply not allowing them onto it's store. GOG has very few AO-rated games, for example, and seems to have a non-publicized policy to have it's 'curators' reject them as a general rule. Whereas Steam generally doesn't censor content in that way, which is one of the reason why Steam has a much better selection of games.

And it's not like "curation" keeps bad games out of GOG anyway. It certainly doesn't. There's tons of bad games here.
i havent seen any, now i dont define a bad game as a game i dont like or has bugs. I define bad games like steam and its 100000 garbage animie porn games. 90 percent of steam searches is shifting through legit junk of spam games created with 0 effort just to sucker money.

Makasouls: The main reason I like gog is it doesnt automatically update my games. I hate when I get a game how I want it, it updates and breaks everything Ive done.
i bet you can turn that off in steam too

Enebias: Besides, with GOG Galaxy you can manage your other non-GOG games without going back to the other clients. It's a feature I don't use myself, but I can see the benefits it can give to somebody with a large collection elsewhere.
You don't. The other client has to be running in the background if you want to play those games, kind of what origin and uplay do. At that point, just buy Ubisoft games using uplay or EA games using origin. People give crap to uplay but lately they've improved it a lot and it's probably the less invasive out of all the clients I've tried. They understood that people don't really want social media in their stuff, and achievements are also useful for once (you get discounts).

I-I'm sorry, DRM BAD! DRM BAD! That's more like it :D

GeraltOfRivia_PL: GOG is polish not American. By supporting GOG, you support Europeans.

Besides, they gave us Diablo Hellfire and Icewind Dale 2
This is the first time I've heard of someone wanting to buy games in one page because of its nationality. Sounds like that policy that austrian with the funny moustache implemented a while ago. Are you ok?

And no, they didn't "gave" us those games. They didn't made them. They just allowed a way for them to be sold again. And I'd advise you to pick better games if you want to give a convincing argument.

Not that i saw, and you cant go back to older verisons of games, and there is no easy way arpund it in steam, so if we are talking server based games like starbound none of those people could figure it out. Vs gog you just download the right verison.

Whilst Steam doesn't offer an official “ turn off auto-updates button”,

Think thats subjective. I think cyber punk 2077 looks like a worthless garbage game, i also think that newer starwars game was so bad the people that made it must have a mental disorder hah. In the starwars the reviews call it a good game.

Rating
9/10 (53,856 that is for starwars the disney downs order. I also think world of warcraft is a terrible game, so is diablo 3.

I think icewind dale and diablo 1 are 10000 times better than any of those games. I also like starwars galxies orginal, but the majoirty like swtor thats so easy you can take your keyboard and drag it up and down your face while slaming the mouse down screaming shit fish and you will win.

I also think that in general all modern games are garbage. Know another game i think is legit a dumpster fire skyrim. That game is so terrible, in order to even slavage it i had to spend 100s of hours moding it. The stock skyrim even with all the dlcs is so bad its a disgrace to gaming. See that most people think skyrim is a good game.

Want some more stellaris got 1000s of postive reviews even made console verison. I call it distant worlds for dummies, and think of it as a fumpster fire game.

Last time I checked, the only options are scheduling automatic updates to a moment in the day you never use the pc, or the game being DRM free and you having a backup copy

ah true my bad
maybe i mistaken it with another store , i thought you could even set the version you want , or it is game specific

Steam is weird and oddly covoluted when you want an older version, but it's possible to get them when you want, as far as the builds are still public.
