Hi,

i just purchased few TR games and was wondering how to go about setting them up.. the problem being all TR games have been clubbed under a single forum, and i realized thats true for other titles like Doom as well (which is expected to stay alive and kicking till 2050 atleast, lets hope)
but somehow the witcher series gets a different treatment, why the double standards?
should be great if you could have different forums for all titles out there just like in the case of witcher, i dont know if rest of the community feels the same way though so as to push the change

It would be nice, but sadly Gog isn't improving the forums since many years.
They focused their attention only to Galaxy. So don't expect anything :/

I very much agree and would be in support of your suggestion. One main and several game-specific sub-forums would be an ideal solution since it would allow general discussions as well as asking question about and discussing a particular part of a series. Not having to pay attention to tagging a topic appropriately so everyone knows what game it is would be a clear benefit.

It would also be beneficial to archive game forums with little to no interaction within a couple of months to unclutter the already very long Game specific forum list. Many forums remain empty, there are no updates, no one sees need to enter into a discussion because there is likely to be no one to discuss with. Posting and opening new discussions should still be allowed in case someone has questions or wants to discuss something about a game.

Gog doesn't care and neither do developers. Can apply this to most issues we come across here.

GOG works with a much smaller team and with smaller funds than something like Steam that gets tons of money for purely existing. They have to prioritise and the forums are not high on the list.

It is possible I guess, that CDPR have direct MOD access to the forums, and so they, not GOG created their individual Witcher sub-forums. While the GOG policy is just to do one ... less work for them that way, and they always seem short on time to do many things, and no doubt it is all about priorities.

I certainly suspect that CDPR employees help out at the forum now and then. After Cyberpunk 2077 was released, we suddenly had MODs active again at the forum, after being almost totally absent for a few months. Read from that what you will, but it seems obvious to me.

That's really no excuse for a company whose owners are billionaires and stock listed on top of that. They would have enough money to turn this into a second Steam if they wanted to. Notwithstanding the CP2077 debacle which may have had an impact on revenue and profits. At least if they threw more money into one of their cash-cows to make more that it currently is turning it into something which it could be can't be to much to ask for.

After https://www.gog.com/forum/the_legend_of_heroes_trails_of_cold_steel_series/the_other_tocs4_subforum I don't think there's much more to it than that sometimes GOG staff forget a series forum exists already.

As for the OP's suggestion, I'm glad we don't have four ToCS fora, etc. I suspect that 'Where's that thread...?' searches would not be fun. Most of the game-specific fora don't get that much traffic anyway.

I don't think these forums need to made broader. In fact, I think they need mass consolidation.

Here's your Strategy General, and here are the Strategy Game Subforums. That way, instead of having to sift though 3000+ forums, I can pick from 12, and probably find what I need within them.

Adding more subforums to address every single game separatedly, would not really help, given that most of the existing subforums are deserted already, most of the time.

The way it is now, somebody who reads the subforum for (e.g.) the TR series, might stumble over your question and be able to help you, though that person themself was initially looking for something else (help for another game in the series, etc.) entirely.

I get you have a capitalist hate boner dude, but that is not how that works. Also while GOG is part of the CDP group it's separate from CDPR.

You got what I said wrong, it is part of CDPR group is what matters, so if they wish to there is no reason not to invest into this entity to fix both the forum and improve our overall experience. If this isn't in their interest so be it, they have to pay for the consequences one way or the other.
