Disclaimer: This is not a thread about hating on gog or to spread some negativity

Most of us which are here love gog and many think it’s the best store on pc.So lets show some positivity here and tell me why do you choose gog as your main platform on pc
For me:
Obviously because of drm free games because this are the best versions
Offline installers which you can easily back up with galaxy
Galaxy is how every launcher should be…..meaning optional and you can merge most launchers with galaxy as well
A growing library of classic and new games
For the DRM-free games, of course. I can archive them and play any older versions I want. I've also bought DRM-free stuff from Amazon, Zoom, Humble, Itch, and Fireflower.

They have DRM free games that I can archive and keep forever. Support has always been good to me and I feel comfortable buying games form them. Everyt issue I ever had with a title was resolved, there has never been a time I was disappointed in a title here or a resolution that was due to an issue with GOG.

For all their faults, there isn't a better store out there. It's the only store that has both a fairly wide selection and has DRM-free installers.

The selection might not be as big as Steam, but I find that 90% of the games that I am interested in come here eventually anyways, and given that there are more games to play than time to play them these days, GOG acts as a good filter.

I only go to Steam for a very specific selection of games (mainly stuff from Capcom or Sega)
i don't. i neither love nor hate gOg, it is just another store. sames as i don't love or hate Tesco or Borders.

When I registered on GOG over ten years ago, I loved it 100% for:

- reviving the classics and making them run on modern rigs
- DRM-free installers
- their proclaimed stance about doing things differently than the competition, fighting "the good fight"
- two affordable price points
- no regional pricing
- no region locks
- soundtracks and manuals included
- nice looking, user-friendly website
- friendly forum community
- good customer service and support
- approachable staff with willingness to try and communicate with the userbase
- The Enigmatic T

Not much of that is left today, sadly. Maybe 20-30%, and at least -10% for all the disappointments in recent years (how they grew even further apart from the forum community after pretending to listen to its "envoys", the way they handled the Devotion debacle, plus all the small things that spell neglect of or disconnect from what was good back in the days). It is what it is, I guess many things were out of their hands and came with the growing popularity and expansion of their market, and I still appreciate the existence of DRM-free installers and the occasional great oldie releases, but other than that, it is a store like any other to me now. A store I buy from and hang out at, but don't feel particularly sympathetic or supportive of anymore. Used to tell everyone how great it is, now I stopped doing that and even feel kind of embarrassed about it. Sorry but talking about my love for GOG without any negativity just wouldn't be honest.

Because the sex is so good, the best I've ever had with a corporation.

Honestly, I'm not sure how true this is any more, but back in the day I had friends who bought old games off Steam only for them to straight not work, that at the time GOG at least fixed them up to work on newer systems.
Eheheh. I don't really. Actually, I have several oddly specific clashes with their corporate philosophy that most others roll their eyes at.

I signed up to enjoy some beloved classics, and well, I can't help but notice that end of the detail has gone a bit screwy.

The strictly Poland hiring policy is one of many dreaded bugbears in my book; attempting to pool for talent with such an obstinate requirement, recent world circumstances even aside of that. Having to juggle usable skills to work at a sister company of a now disgraced company along with multiple languages seems like an incredibly poor prospect. (But what do I know?)

The simple fact of the matter is, there are base competencies that seem to be missing from GOG's toolkit (such as rate limiting and spam prevention) (See post 9 here.) which leave me baffled each passing day they don't simply adress the problems directly instead of duck and dodging.

I'd be more supportive if GOG dipped into the world of 80s/90s shareware.
