I have people in each of those groups, i'd wager. Of course some actually dislike me for valid reasons(I said something they think is bad and they have a good reason to not like that thing I like/said, for starters), and those I can understand/don't mind when they low rate some posts I make.

Sadly, gog doesn't seem to care about upholding that rule and likes to spend more time on the hate speech rules & the occasional swearing fit by some users.

If you want less low ratings by some you need to start by not calling ALL those who low rate c*nts if you can help it. I get you have mental issues(I have some as well, but different ones), but it doesn't help with some people.

It isn't a full excuse & the person with the problem should work to either limit their exposure to things that will irritate such/cause them to be irate/stressed and/or try to remain calm/speak civilly, but a bit of understanding towards such people often helps to bridge the divide and keep such people(those with issues) calm and civil. It also really doesn't do anything to low rate them(in terms of stopping or limiting their mental issues).

I am no mental health expert, but the exact opposite could be true and help them by way of 'desensitization' ... so the person will be more able to handle aggravations in real life?

This would likely work well if one controlled the exposure in ways like: Limiting one's self to tamer websites at first(but not too tame) with more controlled replies/posting(moreso even than Gog), and then exposing one's self to more things/less controlled sites over time, as too much exposure to such right away might turn some off the web entirely.

I'm gonna just guess it was one of mine(as it usually is since the ones who downrate me now go after the ones who reply kindly to me here sometimes now as well to try to force me out)......also how did you lose 10 rep? The max is -5 per day, I thought.

Unless Gog has changed it, you can only lose 5 rep per day. Unless,due to a time factor of it being 10 seconds to midnight then it's possible to lose 5 and then another 5 past midnight and then this would be believable but only if you were the unluckiest person in the world so I say that you are being extravagant with the amount missing.

Could be if others are using rep tools and they hit the replies to my posts as well(as it seems) in some threads then it is likely that is the case.

Heck, it must be a tool/app...know why? Because some days I go down 5 rep, then get someone giving me rep for a good post/etc and immediately a few minutes after that I drop one more rep.

The only thing I know is that yesterday I had -602 rep and this morning it was -612.

I'm just trying to grasp how GOG thought downvoting would be a good idea and lead to a better forum experience. Even though it shouldn't matter, it should have been obvious that some people would care and others would abuse it for that reason.

iirc they stated several years ago (!) that the rep system would soon be overhauled or entirely removed.

I hate downvoters, they are the worst of any kind. If you disagree with someone, say it to their face. I have no idea why GOG still retaining this outdated upvotes/downvotes style
