tinyE: Every time I mention how stupid the Statue of Liberty scene was, some wise guy has to pull the Marshmallow Man out of his ass. :P

At least the Marshmallow Man had, you know, LEGS!!! XD
There was the Statue of Liberty walking around like she had legs, but she doesn't! All that is, is a copper shell. There aren't legs behind that gown, just rivets and steel. It would have actually been less offensive if they had her levitate around the city; at least that wouldn't have involved non existent appendages.

mystikmind2000: Well actually, what you have is half a statue of liberty with imaginary legs verses and entirely imaginary marshmallow man with imaginary legs. So why is the statue of liberty more ridiculous? its less ridiculous by over half a body!
i always thought the walking statue of liberty was awesome
if i can suspend my disbelief for ghostbuster to work and to accept a huge walking marshmellow
i can accept a walking statue too

rtcvb32: Albeit not a horror film like the first one.
avatar
paladin181: People think the first movie was a horror flick?
It was shot as a horror film, it had the mood and pacing of a horror film, lore and superstitions of horror; It was a horror film. The fact that they had good funny talent didn't change that. And that it became a cult classic as well as was funny changed it's direction afterwards.

Mind you i'm getting this second hand from other sources, i forget where exactly, but the first movie was not intended as a comedy. Beyond Bill Murry's antics, almost everything in the movie was serious.

Breja: Newsflash, Star Wars fan- there's no sound in space! :P
Hmm in general, but some explosions would still be heard...

It's Scientific!

So much for truth being stranger than fiction then! hahahaha

Social media amplification, or whatnot.

I am a Sigorney Weawer fan - I thought the original Ghost Busters movie gave Siggy a slight chance that I retroactively vindicated post Alien. But Weawer defined and totally owned Alien franchise, no?

Will the current Ghost Busters do anything alike?

Sadly I doubt it.

I agree, I always loved that too. Just pretend she moves like a Dalek and needs no legs.
The only thing I disliked was having to go through the romance again.

My pleasure. :-D

The same comment applies thou. Siggy & what folllowed.
While I didn't like it as much as the first, it's still a solidly good movie. Anyone who hates it probably has cancer of the fun. Fun cancer is a serious condition and should be investigated by a professional immediately.

The Ghostbusters cartoon, on the other hand... totally understand the hate for that one.
Ghostbusters 2 is ok, there are plenty of things to like about it, but is also pretty much just a remake of the first one. And the whole idea of the opening, where the Ghostbusters have disbanded for stupid reasons, is awful. Once they are back together it's pretty good.

which one ?
cause the real ghostbusters cartoon is great and actually continues the stories of the movies
filmations ghostbusters ( the one with the monkey and talking car) is less great

Stupid motivations for things in order to prepare the story happens in even the best of films.... look at Darth Vaders lame motivation for turning evil in starwars..... Mom getting forgotten and left to rot as a slave while he works for the most powerful organization in the universe? And in the technologically advanced universe you cannot pick up a phone and tell your son you got married? hmmm, ok i can understand him killing the savage creatures that killed his mom, but what the hell is that running of and killing all the child Jedi? Its a real half assed job to set the scene for the main story.
I thought it was a pretty solid sequel. Wasn't aware there was a significant contingent that disliked it, actually.
thoroughly enjoyed the lively debate concerning statue of liberty vs stay-puft.
