AnaisWitcher: Why do most gog games have no achievements?
I always buy steam, steam games have achievements, cards ... But in gog the majority of games have no achievements
- GOG games are oldies. They didn't thought about achievements then.
- GOG gamers may be oldies too. They may not like achievements much.
- GOG is smaller and cannot afford to support achievements. This was true before Galaxy (say pre 2015). So only newer games can have achievements or older games need to be retrofitted which may be expensive.
- Achievements aren't that interesting feature anyway ... say some people.
- Some notable GOG games have achievements and they are very popular. (For the unpopular games anyway not many people care if they have achievements or not.)
- I'm convinced that more and more GOG games will have achievements.
I for example, am perfectly fine with achievements as long as they are purely optional and can be turned off easily. However, I'm also fine with not having them.
Themken: In some games I set up goals for myself, things I want to have done. That is enough.
Winning a game is one possible achievement that was always there. Only it wasn't called an achievement. Maybe what early games lacked was just the term. But in principle every game has at least one "achievement", even though it's not called like this.
Achievements, goals, wins, ... naming doesn't really matter much.
