Why do I buy these Surprise Games? I always get games I would never, ever buy. Games average 3stars by the community...and even if it had 4 to 5 stars I probably still wouldn't buy it...Why do I do this to myself. I have yet to get anything I would buy.

So have you gotten a gem in one of these Surprise Games?
JACK KEANE! :P
Know yourself and your tastes. I know I have a very limited range of games I like, and I already own several in the genre, so the odds of a mystery game being something I'd want are infinitesimal.

There are threads where other unhappy mystery shoppers trade their mystery games. You may not like what you got, but perhaps someone else got something you'd like and is willing to trade.
Maybe you're at a point in your life when nothing is surprising anymore.

Though, if that could change for only $3.00…
You can trade games on Gog?

I'm a collector of games...I have so many Games between Gog and Steam...
Gog -> 153
Steam 3 accounts -> 603, 416, 97

I don't expect a Witcher type game...but something better than Agatha Christie- The ABC Murders

There's a thread for it, yes. There's no real official system like Steam has, meaning you need to be EXTREMELY vigilant for scammers, but there is a very active trading thread.

I usually check the dedicated tracking thread (some member of the community usually has made one) before buying to see if there's a lot of games in the pool I'd like, and only then do I buy. I'm usually all over these "mystery box" sales, but thanks to checking that first, I decided to pass on any this time around.

The Humble Monthly bundle is all the gaming surprises I need. And I pass on any month when I'm not interested in the early unlocks.
yea after I got myself a Jack Keane from hat I decided that I will never buy any surprise game again. Last time couple years ago I also recived some ultra cheap game for 3 usd.

Yep, never got disappointed, to the point i've subscribed yearly.

...well, never got disappointed until they started to include region-locked games like Dark Souls III recently...

Dark Souls 3 was an early unlock, so you could've just paused your subscription (yes you can do that with annual subscription as well) if you didn't want it.

You could also just trade it for another nice game that you don't have.

Considering the whole surprise game system is designed to move titles that sell poorly, it isn't that surprising you end up with games you don't really like. It's the same thing with most bundles as well.
I dunno why you're buying them. Would you go into a record shop and ask for $3 worth of random music, or a bookstore and ask for $3 worth of random books? I wouldn't, and that's why I don't buy pinatas, hats, etc.
Good thing my GOG wallet is empty or I might be stupid enough to try to get one of the two games I am interested in by buying a hat.

I have bought a bag full of unknown books once. Two of the books were to my liking, the rest I sold off for about the small sum the whole bagful cost me. I doubt I will ever do that again.

I skipped this promo entirely.
With all my Gog games, the chance of getting junk is very high.
I haven't bought anything in the last year or two. Easier on me than those limited flash deals...

So... don't know.
