It is being reported that even though the makers of Serena, the same people behind the masterpiece called "Scratches: Director's Cut" (which was being sold here until some time ago, too), tried to convince GOG to release Serena here for FREE, ***GOG REFUSED***! Why is that? This item is on the community wishlist, too! Also, what exactly is the policy of GOG "Against free games being distributed here, with only a few certain exceptions"? Why should steam monopolize "Free to Play games", exactly, come again?!??!!?

It shoudn't, and it doesn't. If the devs want their game available somewhere else so badly, they can always put it on itch.io, where there's no evil curation system going on...

Serena was a poor excuse for a game anyway. About 30-40 minutes of "gameplay" with a lack lustre twist for the sake of twisting (which was somewhat apparent after certain plot points were revealed). GoG likely didn't want to soil their hands with such...

This has about 40-50 minutes of content... I dont see a reason for it to exist here, its more of a flash game with no controls, saving, or customization. If they need exposure just release a self executable on there site.

It just smells fishy, why not lead with Asylum and give Serena as a bonus D/L?

Should GoG host anyone who wants to release their game for free? I have a hard time seeing how GoG profits much from that model...

If its free, why not just stick a download link on their web page? The problem here is its steam, who is going to want to go through the effort to get it - and I haven't checked it has this mind you - all steam free, ready for GOG, when no-one is going to make any money out of it, not to mention support.

I think declining games with less than 40 votes is an intended feature of a community-curated store. Don't you agree?

Yeah, I read that. GOG ***allegedly*** refused the game. So? How can that fact imply that Steam monopolizes "Free to play games"? As I said, there are other places where devs can place their free games (and DRM-free!), like itch.io. IndieGameStand also has a free games section.

So if you want that game outside of Steam and cannot have it, it's not entirely GOG's fault. That was my point.

When GOG adds this title to their catalogue, whether free or not, they will have to support it as well.
Probably they did not want to do that. Just a hunch.
