That's true. Most games can't hold up the quality for long and get boring really quick. What is a game with 100+ hours gameplay time worth when you are doing most of the time the same grinding crap or doing uninspired sidequests like "kill the monsters over there" and "bring this to person XY"?

Back in the days, when I was younger, I played a lot of such games and I had the patience for that but meanwhile my taste changed, maybe because I also don't have so much time I can spend into gaming anymore.

Today for me a game has to have a high immersion by it's tight told story woven around a predefined character. In most games today you can often build your own character but this character is interchangable, not really tightly fited to the story.

So I mostly play adventure games today. Not necessary for the gameplay but for the story. When I get stuck for too long, I use a walkthrough.

The only open world games that kept me playing are The Witcher games, most of all The Witcher 3, because even the sidequests have their own good and interesting stories.

I'm just going to assume this game is futile.

Got to Gulnan. I can't hit her. At all. Even on a 20 my attacks miss, because she's immune to crits.

I'm level 6, have a dexterity of 20 (thanks to an item), weapon focus, and I can't hit her at all. Yeah, I have an attack bonus of +10 and I can't hit her even on a 20. Why the hell does that thing have an AC of more than 30?????

This game is just futile. It is. I mean, how am I supposed to kill something when an AB of 10 isn't enough for me to hit it???? Even my henchmen, who is a barbarian btw, can't hit the thing. And to top it all off, the thing has 10 uninterruptable spells that can kill either of us from full hp. Yeah, great.

Don't play this game. And its obvious none of the trolls here do either.

did you read a manual? did you try to learn anything about the game systems?

likely they're just immune to physical damage, as happens in D&D

So yeah, managed to make progress, after I stopped listening to you trolls. Was doing fine.

I was about to try to do neverwinter's final tomb so I saved right before it. My game crashed in the middle of saving, and when I turn the game back on, my save file is gone! Yeah, the fucking piece of shit program randomly deleted my save file!!!!!!!!!

And the fucking piece of shit of program virtually never autosaves. The last autosave for my character, is before THE LAST DISTRICT I DID!!!!!! So yeah, if I want to continue my character, I'll have to play through the entire docks all over again, and lose the fucking awesome piece of armor I got in a chest in that area.

Wow. Fucking wow.

edit: I remembered that I had an external harddrive that automatically backs up everything, I wondered if it had my save file. I did a search and found that yes it did, so I was able to copy that from my external harddrive into my nwn saves. I was able to continue the game and save properly. Though I have started to use the quicksave function, just in case.

So yeah, fuck you shitty luck. Random stupid shit happened and I managed to fix it. That doesn't happen very often. Now I wonder if something even more horrible will happen to me later...

I thought it was a good read for entertainment purposes. It's one of those deals where you hope the guy is joking/trolling, because his behavior is so stupid otherwise.

Wow, when I thought I had the game figured out, the whole damned thing blows up in my face.

I'm in the chapter 1 finale. I don't have the ability to defeat the final boss, so I decided to go back to buy some fire arrows or something. My stone of recall won't work in that area, and I can't walk back out the door. I'm trapped, and I don't have the means to win.

Wow. I have my save file, a level 8 character, and I can't possibly win or progress any further. I simply don't have the means to do so. My tank dies within seconds, keeps hitting the one guy who's invulnerable, and I don't have the proper equipment to deal with anything myself. Also, everything can one-shot me from full hp, even though I have made sure that I rolled the maximum on hp at every level up.

So yeah, I lost a game that gives you infinite retries. I can do nothing. I'm trapped and I have no way to escape.

Fucking brilliant level design. Lock the player in a situation where if he can't defeat the final boss, he'll just have to restart from the beginning.

Can't win no matter what. Just can't.
