We are fairly deep into the new series and I am not happy at all with this new story made to go in the middle of Z and GT and remove GT entirely.

And don't get me started with the F'n blue hair and red hair god form... that was too much

Animation looks god awful fighting scenes don't look as good as Z did around the android saga and cell saga.
Characters feel like carbon copies of what was in Z and mixed ideas from Dragon ball and Dragon quest added in.

What do you who watch it think of it so far, Do you think this was even necessary to have or should they have just redone GT the proper way?

Wow that looks utterly retarded. I haven't been following DBZ for the last few years, and it seems good I did that.

I'm not and most of the bad animations were corrected in the BluRay releases.

Pretty faithful to the spirit of Dragon Ball (the fact that Akira Toriyama happens to be involved definitely helps).

As for those comparisons: way to cherry pick screenshots. Not only the anime had pretty shoddy animation on many episodes back then, but you went as far as to pick midframe animation shots, which are simplistic on purpose since they are meant to be viewed as a sequence.

mind you I mentioned story the images was to show how level of detail took a dip over the years in animation, Even dragon ball z's shitty animation looked better than what is offered now. and a lot agree.

What do you think of the story and characters being shit out left and right ? I feel this is lazy and cookie cutter like the battle championship thing going on.

I feel Super is trying to capture the spirit of dragon ball and some of Z which is cool but has already been done. I feel that he should have just re done GT from scratch and keep all the characters and just plan the story a lot better.

No, but that's because I've only gotten as far as, "Wedding Plans?!" in the original Dragon Ball.

I have a friend who warned me to stay away from this. Looks like he was right.

I watched the first couple episodes, I found the Vegeta on the theme park idea pretty fun. But I saw the story was retelling the last movie and lost interest. I've heard about the drawing quality being shitty, and normally don't care, but those screenshots are pretty bad.

As for the story, it's not like the original DBZ was that deep outside our nostalgia. I love DB and DBZ, they were the shows of my childhood, but it was constant one upping each other's power level without much more to it. The dragon ball search in Namek was fun, but after that it was all pretty basic and all characters just punched each other without any strategy to it. I don't think I would particularly like it if I watched it now for the first time, and if super is faithful to the originals, I probably won't like it either. That said, I know I'll eventually watch it, because I'm a sucker.

Except it hasn't. The fact that you had to cherry pick pretty much proves that. Ad populum doesn't make something true. I think the story is good enough and most importantly: interesting. Don't recall anything that fits your description of it.

Well, GT was never canon in the first place, so this shouldn't be much of an issue.

yes everybody every company has imperfection and nothing is perfect but you can't deny that they did not give 2 shits when they made this, This is flash animation which is the most bullshit way out of getting things done fast, Yes it looks more modern, Yes it looks more colorful, Yes it looks sharp but you cant deny that Z in general had way better art and fight scenes from 1996 to 99 late 2004.

and budget was a lot cheaper back then and now we get this? why could this have not been hand drawn? it is cheaper if the method they used was the same way as back then which was brought up and they keep on ignoring cause they fucked up with it. even the creator of Dragon ball was upset with this animation go look it up.

I would recommend watching after the frieza part of the series and get right to the universe plot line if you seen both of the new movies . unless you are more the guy to finish all the filler in the middle like me on stuff haha

Just don't expect much and grow to think of it like an OVA special or sorts, Like goku and friends return special, That is what I think of this whole new 100 ep series to be now.
