Dont think many companies have the money and limited market share to buy out Ubisoft.
There is the rumor of investors trying to oust the founders and take control/make Ubisoft private so that could be a possibility.
Ubisoft made some major blunders and even if AC Shadows is a big success (which it shouldnt be), I dont think that by itself would turn the company around. Skull and Bones has to have been a huge resource drain that flopped. Star Wars IP from Disney likely cost a pretty penny since they also want money.
Would be funny to see Musk acquire Ubisoft and run that company to the ground too. Given Tesla also running into trouble, not sure if he can purchase Ubi.

Almost fell below 9 Euro a pop today, before "skyrocketing" back to almost..... 10 Euro a pop :P
For anyone interested in funny looking graphs:

Shedding over 85% of your total value in 5 years definitely takes some true determination. But nobody is going to buy them wholesale. If it comes to that and the trend continues, they'll have to either do a massive restructuring (like shedding a couple thousand employees) or start bidding off their IPs for sale.

g2222: What a dark future that is where every entertainment IP belongs to either Disney, Microsoft or Sony. :-(
I say let the acceleration of game company failure continue. Once most of the behemoths crash and burn gamers can begin anew. -
As Post 19 suggests, they'd more likely just sell off their various IPs to other companies(which afaik isn't against regulations).

The big publishers, absolutely. The problem is that those tend to last, one way or another, even if it means consolidations and just a couple of them ending up owning all the rest. But the devs that work for them tend to be thrown under the bus when those big pubs get in trouble, and those that work on their own or otherwise more interesting IPs go before those that crack out the next yearly edition of the staple series...

Well there is the old saying about making omelettes and whatnot, and if they sink enough money into bad eggs then perhaps we'll eventually see a new gaming era arise in our lifetimes. Maybe i'm wrong and things will go differently, we'll see.

The golden goose just keeps on giving:

Employee union asking for an increase to all salaries and a strike in October. Really starting to remind me of the Sideshow Bob scene with the rakes:

"Our employer's stock is doing a perpetual nose dive(with the occasional stop as they hit the other diving boards on the way down)...what should we do? I know, we'll stop production and ask for more money!"
I don't have a problem with this, as it will likely lead to Ubisoft cratering even faster.
Sad about some(key word) of the poor saps losing pay tho.

g2222: What a dark future that is where every entertainment IP belongs to either Disney, Microsoft or Sony. :-(
Breja: This. People cheering for Ubisoft's demise, deluded enough to think that if it should happen it would somehow be a good thing are like people on the Titanic cheering for the iceberg because the food kinda sucks and the iceberg is sure to hire a better chef. From wikipedia:
THQ filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy with the intention of selling THQ and all of its assets to Clearlake Capital with Centerview Partners handling the sale. Skip Paul, a former colleague of Jason Rubin, helped orchestrate the proposed stalking horse bid from Clearlake Capital Group.
However, the bid was ultimately denied by Judge Mary F. Walrath and creditors instead approved an individual auction of THQ's properties, which went ahead on January 22, 2013, one day prior to closure
Homefront franchise was acquired by Crytek
Rights to the Warhammer 40,000 series were sold to Sega
Publishing rights to Turtle Rock Studios' Evolve and the WWE series were acquired by Take-Two Interactive
Ubisoft acquired THQ Montreal and the publishing rights to South Park: The Stick of Truth
Volition and the publishing rights to the Metro franchise were acquired by Koch Media
PlatinumGames' producer Atsushi Inaba expressed interest in acquiring the Darksiders franchise from THQ
Interplay Entertainment acquired the rights to the Freespace franchise
Homeworld was acquired by Gearbox Software
Drawn to Life, acquired by 505 Games
The remainder of its original IPs were auctioned to Nordic Games for $4.9 million
The Nickelodeon game license was acquired by Activision
Microsoft does one wholesale purchase because they have infini-bucks and suddenly, everyone thinks it's the only kind of purchase possible.

I don't see anyone buying Ubisoft.
Any company that potentially has enough money to do so (i.e. CDPR, Activision/Blizzard, EA, etc.) all embrace the exact same game-ruining agenda-pushing as Ubisoft is already doing, and which is causing Ubisoft's sales and stock prices to tank.
Were any of those companies to make games using Ubisoft's IPs, then their games would therefore be darn-near identical to the exact same crap that Ubisoft is already making, and therefore the sales of their versions of Ubisoft games would be just as terrible.

I would buy Ubisoft for one dollar, perhaps two, but that is my limit.
Under my stewardship, I would have them make good games. It would be like a completely different company.
