Kelefane: The Anno games.
Nah, they've been on sale repeatedly and I picked up all of them (that are here) on various sales over the last couple years or so, typically for a few dollars.
a bit of a twist but... i was surprised by the amount of times i watched Distant Worlds : Universe enter the sales arena

Since the release of history versions on Ubisoft this year anno games were discounted in february and i think only anno 1404 was discounted in march. Then 2 months after march they released history versions.
And no discounts after march and two mayor sales like black friday and winter sale didn't have the anno games included.
The sales were very frequent in 2019. I myself only have anno 1602 and 1404 and am interested in getting 1503 and 1701.

Fonzer: Vangers is one i didn't get with a discount because i really don't know when it goes on discount.
avatar
Glaucos: This. The last time it got a discount was... don't know, 2014, maybe?

I woud also add some games from "phantom" publishers:
The Deadly Tower of Monsters (Sega owns this, but it was released here years ago by Atlus).
Boy and his Blob (Majesco is just a shell company nowadays).

There's also some indie games that were kind of "forgotten" here.
The Deadly Tower of Monster was definitely on sale last Winter, i got it there
I mean A Boy and his Blob was also on sale but i'm not sure with this.

thegreyshadow: Some classics are seldom, if ever, discounted:

Quake I and II
Doom I and II
Battlezone I and II
Falcon 4.0 collection

There are other classic games which are in that bag, too.
the Doom and Quake series where several times on sale, at least during the Bethdesda Publisher sales

Kelefane: The Anno games.
last on sale in January, within the Midweek Sale with good discounts
avatar
slbunny: Terminator Resistance. The license will run out at some point so don't wait too long if you're remotely interested.
it is currently on sale, but this is the first time i see this.

Vendor-Lazarus: Factorio
Its developer claimed that they will never put discount for their game.
But GOG once tag the price wrong so you can save $0.01 and get the game legally.

and how often does it need a sale for games older than 20 years?

Mortius1: MaGoG vanishes in about 10 days. It will be missed.
Wait, why?

Indeed. These games hardly go on sale. They do, but very rarely.
I don't know the reason. Maybe because they're old, maybe because they are sure sellers... who knows.
Skulls of the Shogun

Probably on sale for only twice.

morrowslant: Didn't the developers of Star Ruler 1/2 shut down so completely, that there is nobody left to tell GOG to add Star Ruler 2 to the various repeating sales events GOG does?
Yeah I got the impression the game was released open source because the development studio closed down... but it still has a publisher, does it? Or not?

So you can compile the game yourself from the source code... but how about the expansion pack? And how about the music, do you have to compose it yourself?
Chaos Overlords - haven't seen this game on sale for a long time.

Robette: Wait, why?
MaGoG's creator is unhappy at the direction that GOG is following

I can safely say that Vangers was at a discount on Mar 29, 2018. That is when I got it for $1.49.

Immortal Planet, which, according to the sticky post, will be delisted on the 11th.

According to ITAD, it only had some minor discounts and 3 bigger discounts ever since it was added to GOG.
