Midwinter 1 & 2 with the power of modern PCs would be something pretty spectacular.
X-Com Apocalypse - albeit with a different graphical style and tactical elements taken from XCOM Enemy Unknown and Frozen Synapse

Terra Nova - still has features that haven't been seen again since.

Dungeon Keeper - a straight up remake. HD, 3D but otherwise the same. Maybe make the dungeon heart look less like a cake decoration though. It's supposed to be evil, FFS.

Earth 2150 - a bit clunky and awkard in some ways. But it did some amazing things very well and a remake could make it the perfect base building RTS.

Hostile Waters - again, some very unique gameplay elements.

Alpha Protocol - maybe if it was remade without the crappy mini games and checkpoint saves I might understand what people were so keen on.
A remake and the power of nostalgia would result in me purchasing any of the following:

Dino Park Tycoon (one of my first experiences with computer games in elementary school)
Fury 3
Jet Force Gemini
KOTR 1 & 2
Warcraft 1 & 2
Command and Conquer
Longest Journey
Any of the old Zelda games

KOTOR 2 has gotten quite an upgrade recently actually, not much but it's still something.

Something other than the big restoration one that's been around for a long time?
None.

There's a few games I wouldn't mind having a sequel, but remakes? Fuck that. last thing you want is what's happened in movies to happen even more in games.

I mean the updates that the devs has been adding, but if that's known as "the big restoration" then sure, that's the one.
I thought of another one: Final Fantasy 2. (Not the SNES one; that's really FF4, and it got a thorough remake on the Nintendo DS anyway.)

Specifically, I would like a remake that completely redoes the game mechanics, but keeps the same basic ideas for the growth system. This would allow the game (which is known not to be balanced) to be completely re-balanced. While we're at it, some new mechanics could be added; how about weapon techniques that are learned by sparking (like in the SaGa series)? One could also add spell techniques in a similar way.

Didn't it already get remade for the GBA? Or did that not fix the balance issues? Either way, after they recently released the PC version of Lightning Returns with always-online DRM, I don't think Square-Enix should be allowed or encouraged to touch anything they've already released ever again.
Commander Keen and Emperor: Battle for Dune please!
Generally I'd hope more for new content (games) than old games remade, but for games that either have issues running on current PCs, or which are hard to obtain, yeah remakes would be nice.

So I want remakes of these:

MechWarrior 2-4 (not sure if 4 and Mercenaries have any compatibility problems, but I added them for the wholeness)
Interstate'76 (I presume the GOG version still has those nasty physics issues on faster CPUs?)

I would be fine with the originals too if they ran fully fine on modern PCs, and don't need CDs (quite many modern PCs don't have DVD drives anymore).

The GBA version fixed some issues, but the mechanics are still basically the same with some tweaks; I am thinking of a complete re-do of the game mechanics here.

Also, one issue that wasn't fixed was heavy armor, which is worse than useless. It cripples your evade, causing you to take more damage among other problems (like always going last, being constantly ambushed, and not being able to run away), and also cripples your spellcasting (a hidden mechanic that should not have been hidden).

I also don't like the removal of the first Blood Sword, as it was the one interesting thing found in a rather dull part of the game. (Also, the one remaining Blood Sword is easy to permanently miss, which feels like sloppy game design to me.)
There are so many interesting concepts in Might and Magic that I'd like to see reimagined with bigger hard drives. :) My favorite is Might and Magic 2. Once you're able to start using the time machine and change your Year 900 setting by doing things in the past, my imagine set afire. There's only a few things you can actually change, but it's so neat to go back and journey through the ruins you had seen a dozen times before or journey to settings and seeing their incarnation.

To actually make it more real, more accessible, and more changeable would be great. Maybe I'll make a NWN module! :)

Also, as much as I loved M&M when I was young, the gameplay is no longer enjoyable for me. It takes too long to play in my older age and it feels too far separated from the action. I'd like to see it get either interesting TB battles or real-time combat. There are just far too many useless battles in M&M.
Darklands, keep the pixel graphics, just expand upon the game, add new mechanics and more content and I'll buy it out no matter the cost.
