I like it I just don't think it is the best in the series.

I expected Civ II to be the most loved one, because it's the classic that made Civilization Great.
Probably it's just too old by now.

I have only played 1 and 2 but they were my favourite games taking up all my time as a kid. I still have the Civ 2 disc I play

Can anyone compare and contrast more recents Civs?

Play IV. They designed it to make Civ more fun; the dev notes in the manual suggested that there were some game mechanics that seemed like a good idea at the time in III (e.g. Corruption) that just turned out to not be much fun.

Civilization I is the absolute best. Hope GOG will get it aboard one day.

Civ iv for me. I havent played the last 2 even though I have v. I also really liked warlock. If S like civ but fantasy. It's not as good of a "game" but i found it more fun. I suppose the setting, creatures, and multiple planes sold it for me.

I highly doubt many people here even played it yet. It's Steam only and still mostly premium price.

Either way, for a "best" choice, it's simply too early to tell. I'd say it's the most complete by far base CIV game to come out since the first few games and could quite possibly become the best in the series once they get a couple of expansions in there. But comparing it to the other games with their expansions is still a hard thing to do right now, and not really fair.

Same here or well i'm even kinda underwhelmed by it - dunno i'm not that fond of the new features and the AI just seems so freaking braindead and yes at least subjectively it feels like a huge step back AI wise from CIV V and Civ V AI like all civ ais was already pretty bad. So ya for now i'm sticking to civ v here.


Ya true dat about the "most complete basic games" , on the other hand the "dlcs" (i bought deluxe so i got them, wouldn't have paid for them) are really underwhelming/rip off so far so unless they plan a big addon i don't really see the game improving that much so far.

I would expect 1-2 normal expansions like the last couple of CIV's. I'd be surprised if there wouldn't be.

Personally, I believe AC's setting is one of the best settings in a video game. While it's true that in many games we can travel in other planets inside our solar system, other planetary systems inside our galaxy, even distant galaxies, Proxima b is the most realistic approach in real life since it is "only" ~4 light years from planet Earth. I can't stop wondering "What if...?" and this game offers a great visualisation/aspect of what we could meet there, through a great story. No need to mention the magnificent way the game is presented through the use of sophisticated and greatly explained science fiction (the datalinks).
