I apologise in advance, since I bet that this question has already been asked here before, but I admit I've never read about it.

Being a strategy fan I'd really love to see Slitherine games here.

If they're DRM-free, why are they being sold on Steam and not on GOG as well? Is the manager on Valve's paylist or something?
I imagine that their games would sell like hot cakes here.

If anyone has any specific info, please post here.
Thank you.

There have been no official comments (to my knowledge) from either GOG or Slitherine for the games' absence here, but I don't think that either the DRM or Valve is the culprit as:

1) The official Slitherine site has games that Steam doesn't have.
2) The copy protection used amounts to nothing more than an offline serial key.

Thanks for the info. Even though it's still strange why neither Steam has their full catalog or why GOG still hasn't managed to break some deal with them.
I tried searching their forums for some explanation, but the only thing I could find was this thread. Don't know if it's related or not.
Perhaps GOG doesn't think they will sell well.

Considering Slitherine's pricing model and the nature of their games "too niche" would for once be a solid argument.

Even though we have higher priced titles on here by now, GOG actually DOES have a say in games' pricing while Steam couldn't care less and my guess is that GOG does not agree with the prices of Slitherine games. That's assuming that Slitherine would consider GOG releases in the first place - taking into account that they don't even sell all their stuff on Steam that's not very likely, to be honest.

What do you mean by too niche? Aren't most of their games "Panzer-General", "W40K" and "Total War"-types?
I thought lots of people here loved those kind of games (I'm still waiting for Panzer General 1 btw) :P
Hell yea, Slitherine would be a great addition. Maybe someday...

Last time I checked most of Slitherine's titles made Panzer General look quite casual. Plus Panzer General gets a huge nostalgia bonus on here. And the original Panzer General was practically a AAA game by the standards of its era, a lot more mainstream than these kinds of games are today.
I don't see any reason why they shouldn't be on here, guess it's up to Slitherine.

I read a couple of rumors that Slitherine's boss had something a "difficult" personality. Don't know if it's true or not or wether it has anything to do with the case.
Slitherine games are some of the most hardcore wargames, clearly aimed at a niche of history buffs who want the maximum amount of historical accuracy in their war/battle re-enactments. The pricing reflects that too, aiming for quality over quantity of sales. That said, on Steam they have been on bundles a couple of times. I got most of their Steam offerings for 6 bucks a while back, a ridiculous discount over the 150-250 bucks it'd all cost undiscounted. It should also be noted that they suck at optimization, so these spartan-looking games run like absolute donkey on some systems that don't sweat modern Totar War games. So there are reasons why GOG might opt against having them.

I haven't verified this, but I recall a game that Slitherine previously had the rights to, called World War One. It was remade by a company called digital froggies, and put on Steam. A couple of years ago, it was taken off Steam, and the dev cited unjustified threats of legal action from ''some UK company''. Purportedly because Slitherine wanted less competition for their new WW1 games, To End All Wars, on the 100-year anniversary of the outbreak of the war.

That is correct. Slitherine drove Digital Froggies to effective bankruptcy. Game was removed from Steam about a month after release and then it took about a year of trying to reason with Slitherine. And yes Digital Froggies owned the license for WWI. After that they went broke and other people took the property over under as Argonauts Interactive. What happened to the World War One license nobody knows.

As far as I know; that has been said on the internet (so take it for what it is) Slitherine caused massive delays in Sovereignty Crown Of Kings especially the patches and was responsible for some of the game not being developed as it was supposed to be in the release product.

I ended up playing the game and not being very impressed with the final product even know I could tell a lot of love from the makers of the game went into it.

The most personally appealing game I've played from their catalogue has been Order of Battle.

That's sad :(
I was having some good hopes for Sovereignty. I played an early version of it and really enjoyed the experience. Too bad that it was pressured to be released in a "bad state".
Not the kind of thing I would expect from a publisher which sells games that look like they were made in 1998.
Well... It seems we have no official reason why Slitherine's onboard. I'd like to contact them but I admit I couldn't find any sort of contact e-mail. Let's hope that GOG manages to make a partnership with them in the future.

Thanks to everyone who wrote their opinions here.
