Tytus-: I really don't get why devs put out a DRM free version of the game, then remove it..

adamhm: When Gamespy shut down the devs replaced it with Steamworks, which is why these games were removed from sale here.
Arma 2 only got 1 more patch after it. It wouldn't have been too much trouble to leave it. Now peoples other options are finding the DVD version for sale.

What bugged me about the game was that it was left slightly unfinished and buggy.
Build a time machine, and go back to win my giveaway contest from 2-3 months back. That's the last legit digital DRM-free copy that I know of, unless someone else has a gift code in their horde.

Now you suggest that. Where were you this morning when I had a free Sunday afternoon?....

Invent the time machine, go back to this morning, and then invent the time machine again a few hours earlier. Problem solved!

drmike: Just curious. Is this an older installer for a game you're reinstalling? I ask because I haven't seen an adverts for the game in my installer.

I had though they were live adverts from the website, like from some sort of RSS feed.
No, the ads are built into the installers. So older installers can have ads of games that were removed after they were built.

This is how the ads inside the installers look like.

Still regret that I didn't bought Arma when was leaving GoG. Chance that it will return is small :(

Oddeus: I often see the advertisement for Arma II when installing gog games. Now that they hooked me up on it, I can´t buy it, because gog removed it from the catalogue. That´s cruel, man, so cruel. Any ideas where to get it drm-free?
I think someone saw your thread here and uploaded hacked versions of the series to a certain torrent website run by a demon.

Before folks downvote me, do note that I;m not providing any such links and it;s up to Oddeus to go looking. Since he or she is posting here, they probably want to stay legit. I just think it someone funny someone over there is paying attention to what's being discussed here on the forums.

And no, it wasn't me.
