catpower1980: (revealing the full GOG schedule of this year)
Oh, I can do that. Of course, if I do reveal said schedule, it's most likely to change, but assuming your intel is correct, who cares, right?

Interesting. Implication being lawyers, financials, quarters and contracts - lots of t crossing and i dotting...

I smell big things.

Ooooh getting tingly...

On a side not, not too long ago I heard someone say "Cross your t s and dot your lowercase j s" - what sort of sociopath says that???

Hmm...does that mean there will be no release today? Will Keane be upon us? Do you really want me to throw my money at Zenimax? Do not make me do it.

Marioface5: I hope GOG has something amazing planned for the near future, because so far this year has been abysmal for releases compared to 2015. Last year they had so much momentum, so many big releases and new big publishers, and right now there's just nothing. At the end of November, Judas teased an upcoming "flood of games". It still hasn't happened yet, and at this point I'm starting to feel like if it ever does happen it won't even be a big deal.
avatar
JudasIscariot: Define "abysmal" without using "GOG didn't release the games I want" :P
Last year, we had quite a lot of front-page events in the form of a new publisher (usually with at least six games) or more games from a big publisher already here (again, with several games). This year, there's been nothing like that. The only front-page events have been Games in Development, pre-orders, and the unfinished Orion game. Compared to 2015, it's been abysmal for releases so far. Emphasis on it being abysmal compared to 2015, because we have had some great releases this year, just nothing truly major. Emphasis on for releases because we have had some other good stuff going on, like better use of the Upcoming list, new security features, Games in Development, and more games available for pre-order.

not that i'd complain about gog releasing oblivion or doom 3 (both day one purchases), but i think they've been doing a pretty swell job this year. i couldn't give two wet turds about the majority of new aaa stuff coming out right now, as they're totally dlc frontloaded, and feel utterly phoned in. i can get behind a lot of the day one indie stuff we've been getting lately, and definitely hope there's more where that came from. stardew valley, no mans sky, shardlight, superhot, day of the tentacle, etc

a shame about the drm-free delay on grim dawn however. though the shantae game's were very very welcome.

CharlesGrey: GOG released Stardew Valley. For all I care you guys could go on a vacation for the rest of the year. I'm a happy camper, either way. :D
v1.05 is not on GOG though. I know it's for a good reason (it's a beta that broke lots of stuff which previously worked) but I'm so excited about the changes I'd take the risk if it was available. Zoom, numerous bugfixes, and most importantly player-initiated reevaluation, so there's truly no rush to play and Stardew Valley is finally realized as a proper exploration/experimentation game. Otherwise it was really ironic that Gramps offered us an escape from 9 to 5 work for a soulless corporation but demanded moar work, moar charts and moar optimization with all human interaction subject to efficiency metrics, and players being strongly encouraged to look at raw data under the hood, optimize and google spoilers rather than marvel at the intricacy and lifelike wonder of the simulation, live a life and discover secrets independently.

Umm... But that's how I've been playing the game for 20 to 30 hours now. Haven't looked up anything, and don't care to. I don't really mind if I'm playing efficiently -- I'm having fun. :D

Yeah. but then gramps will pop up and tell you off for having fun like he'd wished you would when he was still alive. Apparently, death made him a humongous dickbag.

Heh... So it's just like the SNES version of Harvest Moon. :P

I don't know, I'll just play any way I like on my first playthrough. Can always start another character, if I ever feel like doing a second, more efficient playthrough. Meanwhile, if the old man isn't happy with how I handled "his" farm, well that's too bad. If anything, he should feel ashamed of the state it was in before the player took charge of things.

I've heard such and I think that's pretty hilarious.

"Reginald, you have failed miserably at taking care of Marijuana Farm. Please, go fuck yourself."

OMG I CANT WAIT

The moar I know. I haven't played Harvest Moon (never had a console) and I thought those games were more kid-friendly and relaxing/forgiving.

That's how I went about it, too. At first I thought the evaluation was strictly about restoring the community center and how well I do against not-Walmart, so I was determined to be The Bestest, then I read what it actually entails on the wiki and no way, gramps, this is my farm now, and I decide what to grow and whom to marry.
