GOG already has PG2 and PG3D here. But not the first one. Which holds a special place in my heart.

Now... I admit that for most people the graphics may be completely outdated. But its gameplay remains a true classic.
Can anyone explain to me why it's not here?

Since GOG already holds the rights to Pacific General and Fantasy General, maybe they could publish PG1 as well? :)

That's a good question. Anyone know if the rights are more complicated than the other two that are released here, or is it just Ubisoft not getting around to it yet?

In any case, here's a wishlist link for Panzer General 1: https://www.gog.com/wishlist/games/panzer_general
Coincidentally enough, Settlers 1 and Silent Hunter 1 (both games from series that belong to Ubisoft) are also not here.

Indeed, those and the first three Prince of Persia games would be nice too.

The Settlers
Silent Hunter
Prince of Persia
Prince of Persia 2
Prince of Persia 3D
Have you tried Panzer General Forever? It's a fan-made port that works fine even on Windows 10 and boasts a lot of improvements over the original.
For Silent Hunter 1, the Commander's Edition would be the preferred version:

Try Panzer Corps. It's the evolution of the PG series. Definitely the torch carrier for now. Get it over at Matrix Games. I think it might be on Steam as well.

It is indeed, at £14.99. The DLC however, if bought separately, costs an eye-watering £91.83!

Holy crap. I think I'd wait for it to be in a bundle with all DLCs...

The graphics are fine, ...the dicerolling however....

If someone regards the graphics of PG1 as outdated, then what to do you think about the graphics in PG3D? In my opinion straight horrible. For me, the PG1 ones are fine, Pacific General looks slightly worse (especially for inactive hexes like rough etc.).

One big advantage of PG1 is the huge campaign branching tree. Furthermore map developers were less sloppy than e.g. for Pacific General (San Francisco scenario follows Hawaii 44, but starts earlier, so you can take the N1K2 to that scenario in the campaign mode when it doesn't exist yet, or all these Japanese airstrips in the US mainland). In the PG1 Windows version, you could even have the strategic map open all the time and also an info window which showed you the stats over which you moved the mouse, e.g. showed suppression and attack and defense values so it was easy to decide if one should move one's units next to it and attack.

Ubisoft likely won't sell the IP (they launched Panzer General Online).

For <2 stars experience it's usually a pretty gamble, for more it depends on entrenchment and who shoots first (at least from my experience, it gets more reliable). The predictions seem to be an average, e.g. bridging engineer vs bridging engineer is a 4-4 (or was it 6-6), but that never seems to apply because the unit which shoots first cripples the other so much that it can't inflict much damage.

Slitherine games are truly "love letters" to the old Panzer General games :)

But I have to admit that my interest for Panzer General here is a wish to have the full collection available on GOG. I'd love to be able to replay the entire campaign on a GOG version.

As Grargar stated, it's strange that we're missing so many "number 1"s here. Why not the first Settlers and Silent Hunter?

The wishlist is big for these games. Lack of interest from UBI? (I don't believe it's lack of interest from GOG). I don't believe in copyright issues too, since the every game in those collections is here.

Ubisoft is shutting down Panzer General Online on October 31st, maybe this will enable GOG to finally bring the original (and Allied General too) here.

haydenaurion: The Settlers
I certainly wouldn't mind seeing that one here. Settlers 2 definitely upped the ante, but I still think the original has quite a charm to it. I have some very fond memories of playing splitscreen games with a friend. :)

I tried Settlers 2, but I found it a bit too slow paced and confusing for me personally. Really I just posted that wishlist link for others.
